Customer experiences
This brewery and bakery restaurant is an amazing addition to downtown Midland. The space is large and contemporary, allowing for both intimate groups of two and tables for a big group. The menu is somewhat limited, but focusses on all in-house made items which is certainly to be celebrated. As has been noted in other reviews, the living wage policy also is a commendable choice for the establishment and deserves our support. As I am primarily a coffee reviewer, I attended at the brewery to sample the coffee they had on offered to go along with their large assortment of in-house made desserts. The only coffee on offer was a French press made from beans from the Grounded Coffee company right around the corner in Midland. I have reviewed Grounded Coffee before and always celebrate their mission to bring freshly roasted and responsibly sourced coffee to the Midland area. I do, however, find all of their roasts to be on the light side for my particular pallet. However, I believe the choice of Test Batch to brew this coffee in a French press adds to the depth and flavour of the coffee and resulted in a lovely accompaniment to their fresh made desserts. My companion who prefers a lighter roast coffee was extremely happy with her coffee . On this occasion, we also tried the homemade focaccia and I am disappointed to say we were underwhelmed by the portion, presentation, and taste. This is a however, a lovely spot for a coffee and dessert in Midland. And a really great addition to the Midland downtown dining scene.
Great Place. They pay a living wage, so no tips, and that’s just being good people. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We got a flight of four beers, which were all fabulous, the little tray, which was great, and the brisket stew, which was wholesome and delicious. Definitely a great spot.also, the price on the menu is what you pay! (Taxes in)
I’ve travelled from Barrie to stop in here 3 times in the last 6 months. I want to say it’s worth the drive. This place has a great friendly vibe. And some of the best gathering food, shared plates, and desserts I’ve ever had. The staff are extremely helpful. Make great suggestions based on your taste and serve things promptly. Their homemade soup is stellar. Charcuterie is unmatched. And the fact that you can take some sweet treats (or a schoolboy) to go is a bonus. You don’t have to be a drinker to love this spot! I do not drink. Their nonalcoholic choices for beverages are excellent their coffee and teas as well. Located just a block or so off the main street with lots of parking this spot is accessible to anyone spending time in the Midland Penetanguishene area. Can I add one more thing? The owners opened their business for a fundraiser for Compassion Place last night. This is the kind of business owner you want! Engaged in, and supportive of the social community fabric. Applause all around. You’ve got my business!
Such a great brewery. I love how they have redesigned it, and have an eclectic mix of tables and chairs, and while paying homage to the shell company that it once was. The coolers with homemade snacks to take home or eat there are genius! Beer was cold and delicious!
Test Batches Brewery is a brewpub.
