Very upsetting experience. Went in with a toothache to seek temporary relief from pain before I get home, was told I will be told of any additional charge to the €60 emergency visit. It seems the dentists do not warn you of any charges, they just go ahead and treat you. my dentist needed advice from another dentist so I assume he was a student, I was told I have cavities and before I knew it the doctor was ready with a needle about to inject me. And when I said I wasn’t ready for that I was told the only way to see the size of the cavity is to look with anaesthetic. In the UK we are generally given options/ give consent before a treatment. I felt they were out for money more than helping me. Especially when I was told it’s an additional €60 for the X-ray they took, I wasn’t warned beforehand, when seeing the shock in my eyes this was then reduced to half price. At the end when I wanted to just pay and leave, The receptionist was telling me I have a “large cavity” and seemed a bit pushy that I needed treatment, and this was done while seated at reception desk, not sure where patient confidentiality went ... also I asked for my results to be emailed, at least my X-ray, back home an emergency X-ray is £10, so the least they could have done is actually sent me my xrays. Very upsetting, made me feel worse. I believe I have a bacterial infection which has now spread to other teeth as I was denied antibiotics or any other form of temporary medicine before I got home.
