I’ve been here so much that I can’t keep track. The staff is so friendly and it’s nice to customize your plate to your liking (though as you can see I usually get the guanaquita platter šŸ˜‹). Highly recommend! Top contenders: - Steak Sav. enchilada - Meat/bean/cheese pupusa (My friends love the birria tacos) - Sweet corn tamale - Margharitas

The food is good quality with good portion sizes. The menu has plenty of choices but it's very confusing, difficult to understand, and hard to read. The service is so bad though. I've been there multiple times and they're always slow and not attentive, but today was so bad I have to write a review about it so others are aware not to go here just for that. I waited like 20 minutes to get a waiter to order, even after I got tired of waiting and got up to tell them I'm ready. Then I waited 1.5 hours to get my food after I ordered. Don't go here because their service is so bad.

Missing home? Well, we have another recommendation for authentic food, this time from the heart of El Salvador! On a hunt for a new place, we came across The Guanaquita Restaurant (273 King St W 2nd Floor, Kitchener, ON N2G 1B9). A delightful upstairs spot for Salvadoran fare, this delightful eatery has easily become one of my top choices for an affordable dinner in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. Onto what we ordered! The Vegetarian Enchilada plate was a true comfort. Picture a rich, cheesy filling of spinach and mushrooms wrapped in a soft tortilla, topped with a velvety tomato sauce and a drizzle of sour cream. The side of Mexican rice and beans added the perfect balance, and those two crunchy nachos? A delightful bonus! It was a hearty, flavorful dish that really hit the spot. Then came the Chicken Tacos. Soft, warm tortillas cradled a mix of tender chicken, vegetables, sour cream, and guacamole – each bite bursting with fresh flavor. The tangy sauce served on the side took it to the next level, adding a delightful kick. And, okay, we’ll admit it… we couldn’t resist dessert! The churros were served hot and crispy, generously sprinkled with brown sugar, making them perfectly sweet. The rich chocolate dip on the side was so decadent, I had to remind myself that I was full. But who can resist when churros taste like heaven in a bite? Certainly not us! To hear more about this review, follow us @eatinontario on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, & LinkedInāœØšŸ¤©šŸ™

I've been told by multiple people to come here and it did not disappoint. Service and atmosphere were great and the food was AMAZING. I recommend the Guanaquita platter as it let's you sample all of the specialties on their menu at once. This is definitely going to become a regular in our restaurant rotation!

The Guanaquita Restaurant is a salvadoran restaurant.
