Paul McLarnonWe went for Sunday lunch on the 23rd Feb, we were told there was a table of 11 that came in so the kitchen was running a little slower than usual. So we thought that's no problem, so we stuck around - but it ended up sitting for around 45 minutes without our order even being taken. When we did order after going to the bar ourselves, we got the Sunday roast and it wasn't great - potatoes were hard and undercooked, beef tasted old, Yorkshires tasted powdery - all in all it wasn't a great experience for the price. The main bar area was also freezing with no fire lit and customers sitting around us eating with their coats on. We've been here a few times and it's always been ok food and service, but this experience was just a bit lacking unfortunately. 3 Stars given because our recent experiences were positive, but if we hadn't have been here before - it would be lower.
Lisa LewisWhat an absolute gem of a place. Driving from Cornwall to London and in need of some food (not service station) we plucked a needle in the map and came up triumphant. Despite Christmas bookings galore they still found us a little nook to eat in. Food was amazing. A fantastic vibe, helpful, friendly and happy team members made it a great experience. An on-site shop made it a more expensive one, but who could resist. Thank you.

Food took far too long to come, plates luke warm, felt like cold building cold plates. Roast potatoes hard, like been cooked long ago and reheated. Generally food didn't feel freshly cooked. Service girls nice but too few and overwhelmed. Building lovely but ambience wanting. Great shame as very local to us and easy to get to for elderly people. Like to emphasise that it is winter time and you have stone floors so the place needs warming up and food should match the prices.
David GBooked for lunch to break up a long journey. Phoned ahead to change the time as we would be early. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Very friendly staff, great ambience. The roast beef Sunday lunch was excellent as was dessert. Will be coming back.
