I’m reviewing the restaurant, not the hotel. I’ve been to the Mill about 6 times. The restaurant is spacious and the booth seating overlooking the river and park is beautiful. The menu has many selections and isn’t overpriced. Tonight I had the prime rib and my mom had the pasta carbonara. We seem to always get these dishes. While my prime rib looked amazing, it was barely lukewarm. I sent it back. This time the stuffed baked potato was piping hot but the meat still cool. So I sent it back again. They gave me a whole new plate and the meat and potato were warm; not hot. I decided to eat it - it tasted great despite not being as hot as I would have liked. Mom’s pasta cooled off quickly but tasted really good. The server was awesome and apologetic and gave us a discount on the prime rib dinner which we didn’t expect. So not sure why my food wasn’t hot. I do think heated plates would help keep both dishes warmer, longer.
I had asked 3 friends to recommend a place to eat in Tillsonburg because we were visiting the area to celebrate my friends 65th birthday. They all recommended the Mill and I am so glad that they did. I went with the birthday girl and one other friend and we really enjoyed our lunch. The 3 of us all had the fish and chip special and it was delicious. As a farmer myself, I was very impressed that they use very local ingredients which I really appreciated, Baden coffee, meat from Norpac, etc. Our server Victoria was very friendly and attentive and at the right times. We enjoyed the turtle cheesecake for dessert. I can't wait to go back with my husband sometime. The view was beautiful. Tillsonburg you have a gem in this restaurant.
Today we went for lunch , I had the steak sandwich and asked the waitress if I could substitute fries for the soup of the day , my husband did the same but he had turkey club . I was shocked that we paid 4.50 extra for our soups , I could understand if it was a large bowl and if the bowl but wow that was a big shocker . We have always enjoyed our meals prior but we won’t be back for a very very long time because the prices are getting ridiculous. Our server was nice but not on her game , she should have said there would be an extra charge . She should have asked our friend if he wanted his pie heated especially when I piped up and asked him if he wanted ice cream with his pie . It is not like it was busy do to the snow fall today . Food was ok but definitely not worth the $$ amount
