The Union Hotel

We enjoyed the location at the waterfront. Our room was excellent considering size, cleanliness and had a great bed. We liked the safe and the fridge. The bathroom was large with a lot of space for toilet bags. The shower worked well. The only thing we missed in the bathroom where more hooks to hang up towels. Air condition worked well and we were happy with the Wifi. The elevators were good and we enjoyed breakfast in the 5th floor. The restaurant offered a great view and the service was excellent. The welcome at the reception could not have been more helpful and friendly. We liked a lot the possibility to get drinking water from a special tap in the corridor in a glass bottle and the water glasses. It is a thoughtful contribution to avoid plastic. With one sentence: We enjoyed our time in the hotel very much.

We stayed at this hotel for New Year's Eve. We had 2 rooms and there were 4 adults, two per room. Check in was easy and timely and our request for rooms to be near each other and to be away from the elevators was granted. We expected 'City' views but we were given rooms with 'Waterfront' views on the second floor. Room 1 was beautiful with floor to ceiling California shuttered (albeit broken in places), windows, electric fireplace, large flat screen tv, upgraded refrigerator, clean robes in the closet, Lavazza coffee maker and coffees, lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom, clean large shower, toiletries and a USB hub for all types of charging. Everything in the room worked as it should. The bed was comfortable and you could watch the planes land at Billy Bishop Airport with little noise in the room. Room 2 was not nearly as charming as the first room. There were basic California shuttered (also broken), windows overlooking the Police Marine Unit harbour and there was an electric fireplace and large flat screen TV and coffee maker and coffees. The shower was also large and clean. The seating upholstery was badly worn, the lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom didn't work, the refrigerator was basic bar size and not terribly cold, there was no place to charge any personal devices. No USB ports of any kind and there were no robes in the closet as in the first room. We asked for a charging hub and the robes and they were delivered to our room. However the hub was antiquated and covered in dust and only had USB-A ports. Just prior to checkout the toilet stopped flushing. Neither of the rooms had alarm clocks on the night tables or pens and paper on the desk. All in all we still had a lovely time.

Had a quick visit and the room was great. Cute little fireplace light gave it a more homey feel than standard room. Management quickly addressed concerns over party in the room below us. If you park do not pay the person in the garage, instead pay at check in. I didn’t know this so we had paid the garage attendant, at check in I was informed the cost would be due again at 5am when using this method. She was kind enough to credit what we had paid in parking to the lot towards our parking charge for the hotel. Was a nice walk to everything we wanted to see, even in the cold.
