Moved to PA recently & am trying to continue psychiatric care. I first saw a provider at another company who didn’t work out. (Nowhere near this bad) Thriveworks is big so I thought I could easily find both a therapist & psychiatrist. I have several diagnoses, including legitimately debilitating ADHD. I was put on a stimulant this year by my previous long-term provider after trying non-stimulant medication for several years. It’s changed my life & staying on it is a priority for me. I picked Sandra as she was one of few with availability who takes my insurance & lists ADHD as a speciality. I was never asked to sign releases for medical records from previous providers. 10/7 I booked with Sandra Ezeukwu for 10/22 & immediately submitted all forms. I received another form 10/17, which I forgot until 10/19, still 3 days before the appt. I did my part. So why do I log into Zoom & find that this woman hasn’t read them at all? First thing she says to me is she tried to call me to reschedule because she’s having trouble with her connection. I check my phone & see a voicemail from 11:43am. The appointment started at 12pm. Well, we’re here now and I don’t want to reschedule. She starts asking me questions, all of which I already answered on those godforsaken, pointless forms. I’m answering her questions, distracted because she’s moving her phone around so much. Her background was blurred on Zoom but I can tell she’s in her car. She had started by telling me she had trouble with her connection, then her voicemail said a system issue…I’m feeling like the issue may be that you’re in your car?? We continue & I’m quickly agitated because she started off blaming me for her absolutely insane lack of preparation & respect for my time by repeatedly telling me that she tried to call me & the reason we can’t have a conclusive end to the appointment is that I didn’t reschedule. Im very anxious as we go through all these questions that I’ve already answered on paperwork. I have physical health problems as well that have improved a lot after receiving treatment for an eating disorder. With my history it’s important for me to make sure any doctor I see is safe. I told her I’m still on a waitlist for a PCP, which was an issue for her. I was very anxious & didn’t think to mention my eating disorder or go out of my way to re-explain things that I put on the forms. She said that I need to be closely monitored with these conditions (fair) then says that this appt isn’t for medication management, but to determine if I’m even a good fit for telehealth. I mentioned that I will run out of my stimulant soon & ask for clarification if there is a chance that she will reject me as a patient. She starts going on about how she doesn’t “reject” patients & how she will provide them with resources, blah, blah. I see where this is going & ask multiple times but she’s repeatedly beating around the bush. I explained that it’s fine if she doesn’t accept me as a patient but I need to know what to expect. She says she has to “look at some things in the computer” & can’t tell me right now but will call me later. She called back after 6 & immediately starts telling me that I left things out. If I wrote it on the paperwork then what does it matter?? I answered the questions she verbally asked me. I was extremely anxious. She’s clearly inexperienced with ADHD & I’m not convinced that she really understands or cares about mental health. She implied that I was just trying to get a stimulant & when I said that wasn’t the case she asked where I’m getting my other medication. I explained that I have longer supplies of all my other meds since the stimulant is the only one that has to be refilled every month. She goes on to say that testing by a neuropsychologist is different than what I had with a psychiatrist & I need to see one, Like I’m faking ADHD?? Then tells me I’m not a good fit for telehealth, which I’ve done for 5 years. I asked what resources they have, as she had promised. SHE TOLD ME TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I almost lost it. This company is trash.
This was my first visit and my psychiatrist was absolutely amazing! Over 30 years I have been battling my mental health and have seen multiple doctors and then stopped going because I never felt quite comfortable expressing myself or my issues with them. I met Sheila today and I instantly noticed her radiating heart and tremendous empathy and felt it's so easy to open up to her. She listened to all of my complaints and issues and worked patiently with me to prescribe medications that would help and not clash with any of my other meds or even weight loss goals I have set for myself. I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone, I think in this short visit she literally became one of my favorite doctors that I've ever had and I am 51 years old! She is absolutely an asset to your company!
Molly is a great listener, she pays attention to what I am saying. She has given me good suggestions that I can look into. I am happy that she is my therapist!
