Tutor Doctor has been amazing providing quality tutors. We have taken advantage of Algebra and Spanish tutors the last couple years. Emily tutored our son in Algebra and made the extra effort to make sure he learned on his own terms. She supported him for test prep and even allowed him to reach out as needed for homework. It has been an amazing experience.

In starting out looking for a tutor for our then pre-K son we were on a mission to find someone/company that could continue to build on and encourage our son’s foundation and love for reading. We created a short list of questions and off we went to do interviews. We found Tutor Doctor and have been able to work with a few tutors. However, Colette came along and made all the difference. What makes Collette standout to us is her ability to evaluate and adapt quickly. By this, we notice she has a wealth of knowledge and experience she uses to adjust her lesson plans as our son masters or struggles with an activity. Collette is very attentive and supportive. She understands the short attention spans of active young children. Collette has shown the ability to keep and regain our son’s attention, as it may wane during an hour long session. She is very positive and passionate about learning and the process of teaching. Her advanced degrees give her a solid foundation in which to help identify and change teaching methods. Her ability to understand the current practices used in local schools helps her to coordinate and strengthen the items they are currently, or soon to be working on in the classroom. She has partnered with our son’s teacher and helps reinforce what he is being taught by answering questions we may have, as well as suggesting addition materials to help him master the skills he will need. Collette has introduced us to other books, apps and drills to serve our son’s needs. We are impressed by her up-to-date knowledge of the education system, but more impressed with her ability to use older or tried-and-true principles not being stressed or taught any longer. Her ability to teach phonics was an essential part of her being our choice to work with our son. We personally believe that phonics are foundational steps to help build critical reading and thinking skills. The ability of a child to dissect any word they may come across is a powerful tool and she is helping equip our son with that power. Collette has been very willing to work a flexible schedule that works for us during the school year and throughout the summer. In summary, Collette is knowledgeable, enthusiastic , resourceful, flexible, and most of all, effective. We have been truly pleased by the results in his above grade level scores, his anticipation and excitement for her visits, plus his growing enjoyment with reading.
