New composite door manufactured with an Ultion lock. Appears to be good quality and works well. You are advised to use graphite lubricant twice per year from each side of the lock, but works really well, no sticking or issues, but has been only a week. Contacted Ultion about another lock with the same key and was supplied the ‘test’ key they use to ensure the lock works, so happy with that. Good customer service and happy with the lock.
Terrible business model. Ultion give away the locks to the manufacturers then try to charge you the most expensive fees ever for key cutting/replacement. This company is operating a business model that aims to make them a monopoly. I got quoted for 2 new keys at 46 pounds. I replaced the lock and sold my ultion lock for ~50% of the quoted additional keys.
We've recently had a new front door fitted which came with an Ultion lock. We wanted to order some additonal keys and discovered that they had to be ordered direct from Ultion which didn't seem too unreasonable. However, you can't just order them off the website as expected, or even call in ad hoc to speak to their sales team. Instead you have to make an appointment with a time for them to call you. We ended up making a number of appointments with them and each time they called earlier than the specified time and we missed their calls. The last time, we selected 6pm for a call but they called around 5:45pm. I returned their call almost immediately only to be told there was no one available to speak to. I explained that my slot at 6pm should still be free for them to call again, but they told me that I'd missed my opportunity and had to book another appointment! Getting a little annoyed by now, I checked their website again and discovered they had a list of authorised suppliers that I might be able to visit in person. But, you had to request the list be sent by email. I requested a copy of the list and waited with bated breath...Only to be told there wasn't anyone local to me, and from the sound of it there wasn't an actual list either! Fortunately, this did have a happy ending - One of their representatives eventually disclosed that you can just go to Timpsons and get them there! One quick trip into town and it was sorted and we picked them up today. Quite why they insist on you dealing with their sales team's ridiculous appointment process is a mystery...One last point, Ultion also try to sell you a tube of carbon lubricant for your lock. Apparently you need to lubricate the lock every 6 months using this special stuff - WD40 won't do even if it works in almost every other situtation. I'm not sure I'm happy with a lock that the even the manufactuer expects to sieze up on me after 6 months!
