In November 2024 I had a PET scan done and the results were suspicious for cancer. In December 2024 I was referred to UTSW for a small nodule in the upper lobe of my left lung that I had been monitoring since first seen on X-rays in 2021. I saw a Pulmonologist who thought it was just a mucous plug that we could treat with a round of antibiotics. I was prescribed Azithromycin. A month later a repeat X-ray was done and the physician notified me that module had not changed in size. The decision was made to biopsy the nodule and just see what it was. So in early February 2025 a biopsy was performed. On February 26, 2025 my results came back as squamous cell carcinoma. I was sent then to an Oncologist and a Thoracic Surgeon. Ultimately the decision was made to remove the nodule. I was scheduled for surgery on April 24, 2025. In the mean time an addendum dated for the same day as the cancer pathology report was done February 26, 2025, that changed the diagnosis to necrotic material and minute calcifications. However, I personally was never made aware of this change of diagnosis and so I consented to have the surgery which proceeded on April 24. Was my surgeon aware of the change? Was my oncologist aware? I don’t know but the surgery was performed and it ended up my whole upper lobe was removed. And in the end it was removed for no reason. I’m not sure who dropped the ball but someone did and I’m the one who is now suffering from their misdiagnosis and needless surgery and removal of my left lung. No one seems to care that they messed up. Now it’s hard to walk very far or walk very fast because I get so short of breath, my stamina is not what it was before the surgery. I went to UTSW because of they reputation but in the end they really messed this up. I won’t go back to that hospital for any reason..s
Hello.my journey with ut s.w started march 2024 by visiting dr thomas schleive. A specialist of that medicin showing him a mass in my left neck he prescribed me antiboitic medicatin. Came back tohim after a month he order a city scan he sae the images and he didnt tell me what tbe mass was about. I asked him to do a minor surgery so he can test that mass tissue bur he refused saying that " i cannot touch it without know what is then He a ordered biopsies multiple times and still. After all biopsies, he couldn't tell. What was that mess about after 3 visits? He referred me to his co-worker. Or another doctor in the same system. His name was Andrew day. Visited Doctor Andrew day. That Doctor also continued the same system by doing more biopsies. More imaging, for the about 3 months of going back-and-forth. At the end of 7 months there were no results to diagnose. What was that mass was about finally, that Doctor doctor gave me a result of possibilities. 3 possibilities of the mass about what 1 of them was that infection and one of them was some strange tissue. If I'm a tissue or the third option was a cancer, but he did not confirm. That is a cancer, so she could start the treatment. So luckily I traveled overseas to my original country where I came from. And over there.I contacted the medical center specialized and cancel thanks. And they were able to find out about this this mass started testing for the last 7 months. In the united states they were able to diagnose that mass in a one week only so what?I wanted to say that those people wasted my nerves and time and health and got my cancer.Developed from stage 0 to stage three , if I stayed with them longer.I would have been dead by now so this beauty Southwestern outpatient. Doctors were about to kill me by their long procedure of diagnosing a cancer tumor and they were not able to determine the kind of dishes so they could start treating it so all these signs on the street saying that they are the first and they operating system is a lie so I advise everybody not to start not to. Go to them and not to think or to to give them a chance to treat him with any masses or any tumors. Thank you so much.
My family did not have a good experience at this hospital long-term. The staff started off nice & helpful, & its a clean facility. But the staff ended up losing my sick mother in this hospital briefly because they were so disorganized. Definitely look into other hospitals before staying here for treatment.
