Customer experiences
This location, (Petrolia) has to be the worst. Will not be retuning for a long time. I booked the private room four months ago for a family gathering. When we showed up the room had been given to another group. Mind you we confirmed just over a week ago that we were still good to go. We were given a table with chairs crammed around it. After being informed of the situation seven family members decided not to come. So the table was sufficient after that. My husband and I both ordered the T-bone medium rare. Both steaks were less than a quarter inch thick. Both were overcooked. His was like shoe leather. Too tough to cut into without using brute force. He returned it. They did offer to make him a new one but he refused. Heard to many horror stories of what restaurant kitchen staff does if you complain. So he sat while the rest of us ate. My steak was tough but I ate it. This is the third time we've been there recently that the food wasn't up to par. The second time the steaks were disappointing. We wouldn't recommend this location.
Overall my family mostly liked their food... Chicken parmesan pasta very bland and not enough parmesan...chicken good though... Smokehouse burger needed more sauce and should be sautéed onions... Steak was tough, they did go above and beyond to make right and manager came out to speak to us two times and remade a different one. Very noisy though...but was a Saturday night...could maybe separate bar area a little more...
Our group of four wandered into Chuck’s Roadhouse in Petrolia, and honestly, I think we deserve some kind of medal for making it out alive. We ordered two plates of nachos, a flatbread, and a whole lineup of drinks — wine, Coke, water, a Caesar, and a cranberry ginger ale that tasted like someone whispered “cranberry” over a glass of melted ice. Hydrating? Yes. Delicious? Not unless you enjoy beverages with commitment issues. Now listen. The lemon wedges they served in our waters were so huge, I’m convinced they were harvested straight from the Garden of Eden before the fall. These weren’t lemon wedges — they were lemon continents. If they’d been any bigger, the table would’ve needed structural reinforcement. Seeds everywhere. I’ve seen fewer seeds in an entire watermelon. The Caesar’s celery? Also gigantic. A whole celery tree sticking out of the glass like it was auditioning for a lead role in Honey, I Blew Up the Produce. Honestly, the produce at Chuck’s is so large it should come with its own warning label or wildlife permit. Meanwhile, the nachos came with salsa and sour cream portions so tiny I had to squint to confirm they weren’t imaginary. Two people could finish the entire serving with one confident scoop. Straws? Plastic — THANK YOU, LORD — but roughly six feet long. These things could double as blow darts. I felt like I needed to step back from the table just to take a sip. The atmosphere… whew. It was so loud inside I thought a DJ was about to drop the bass. The pop music was blasting at full “my neighbors will call the cops” volume. If you’d told me there was a rave happening in the kitchen, I would’ve believed you. My anxiety packed its bags and tried to leave the building. And the wait. We waited so long to get seated, I legitimately had time to consider taking the decorative motorcycle for a joyride. At one point I started wondering if they were growing new lemons in real time for our waters and needed the extra minutes. Now for the positive: the flatbread was delicious — genuinely. Like, “Oh wow, THIS slaps” delicious. The shining star of the whole night. Final verdict: Chuck’s Roadhouse Petrolia has the potential to be a great spot once they tame the rave energy, resize the lemons back down to acceptable civilian dimensions, and maybe triple the salsa portions. I’ll be back… but next time, I’m bringing earplugs, safety goggles for the lemon seeds, and a backup snack in case my sour cream serving goes missing again.
First visit to this location since it changed to “Chucks” Sadly not near the level of service or quality that I’ve experienced at other Chucks, and the previous restaurant at this location I had wings, they were small and breaded (menu says lightly breaded) but these were breaded wings, they arrived warm at best and the blue cheese was horrible , served up on a plastic tray with a wax paper sheet , you get 8 and they were small, presentation was minimal and the order although there were 8 wings it looked like a half order. Other guest at the table got the bruschetta, which looked good, but was cold……another app ordered was the steak bites which are usually quite good , but these were warm, and chewy or even slightly tough! I will say that there were a number of customers when we walked in and tables were filled, the service was less than satisfactory Didn’t see our server much, empty plates were left on the table even after she stopped to take additional drink and desert orders…..! More than once we sat at the table cluttered with empty plates while trying to have a conversation. Made it feel cluttered. I hope this was isolated and that the new owners will improve and bring this location up to standard
