Customer experiences
Why does this place have a 3.5 when it should be 100000/10?! PLEASE READ BEFORE COMING: I recently discovered that my dog has a right lobe 5 cm mass and mistakenly for the past months, we just thought they were symptoms of kennel cough. after getting a chest x-ray from another establishment, I was looking for places left and right to go to to help my dog. that is when I came across the VCA in Downers Grove! DVM Brittany Abrams was very VERY helpful in explaining everything and expectations. she even found a mammory mass that no one has found, and thankfully, since it was so small, they were able to remove it with no complications. My dog is still in the postoperative healing stage, but previously she did have another procedure for her pyometra, and she just did not look the same (another vet hospital). I am very happy that she had a very good experience there and she loves the staff vise versa. I would just take note of when taking your dog here and for letting them stay in the ICU is obviously expensive vet cost and being able to pay I believe 75 or 25% upfront. It is one or the other. Secondly they are a busy ER so have patience with them and it is 100% OK fortunately I was able to get my CT scan the same day of my on surgical consult. Another thing is that the staff is just so lovely and the atmosphere of the place makes me feel so respective as an owner. Their coffee machine is 10 out of 10. Wish I could bring it home! overall with discharge, They were very smooth and very good at educating as to what to expect and want to go back to the ER. I am extremely pleased with my experience here and would highly recommend others to come back as well. lastly, just take note that to aid the dogs recovery process typically the guest visiting hours are not assured but it’s only 30 minutes per visit. also the day of surgery when she woke up, they sent a picture of her in the postoperative state, which I thought was really nice of them! go here!
We took our kitty Moose here when he wasn’t feeling well. After being told by another booked clinic that he may have a blockage and would need to be seen immediately I was a nervous wreck. All of the staff here were friendly and made me feel at ease. Dr. Bozelka was excellent! He sat down with us and took the time to go over our options and his observations. Needless to say our Moose did not have a blockage, he just needed some meds and fluids. He was back to his old self again the next day. Reasonably priced even though it was a holiday. Thank you to all of the staff there! We will be back if needed.
RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN!!!! If you have care credit, they will max you out! I had 10k limit and they used 9,300 or so. DIABOLICAL! They were so unprofessional and very impersonal. They didn’t explain the treatment thoroughly at all and when I asked for the records and they said it would take 72 hours. I still have not received the records and it has been since January 2024. They almost killed my cat and would not listen to me when I asked them to call the previous place that SAVED his life. They weren’t treating the symptoms. They were making him worse and put a cone on him when that was unnecessary as he was lethargic.no one will greet you when you come in and a candle is lit at all times which means an animal has passed away. Also when you visit your pet, they keep you in a bland room with a mat and won’t check in on you. Forget about calls from a doctor explaining test results.I also had to tell them to clean his little cold, bleak cage they put him in and give him water and food and fresh litter. I brought in specific food for him as he has stomach problems and they never gave it to him. They gave him generic food which made his symptoms worse. These people only care about the money not your animals/family. I had to travel 18 hours to the place that saved him last and they didn’t charge me an arm, leg, kidney, etc. I could Go on and on about how cruel this establishment is but hopefully this will help save some animals/family. This place needs to go out of business. UPDATE: they still have not reached out when they responded to this review. They do not care to address these serious issues! I will keep posting updates so people can take their beloved pets elsewhere. This place only cares about the money. UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: this place has not only put me severely in debt under false pretenses and care, but they are also the cause of my trauma from this whole ordeal. I had to uproot my life and travel 18 hours STRAIGHT, by car, to get the proper care my cat needed. This place gave inaccurate notes and incomplete notes to the hospital that saved him and are gaslighters. BE CAREFUL. BE WEARY. TAKE THE ONE STAR REVIEWS SERIOUSLY if you want your beloved pet to get the appropriate care they need.
Great, professional, quality care and service reflect the attention Dr. Abrams provided my 12 year old miniature poodle, Dante’. He needed surgery to remove two tumors, and neutering to prevent a recurrence of the tumors. She kept me aware of his status, and even included a postoperative photo to assure me that he was doing fine. I couldn’t have asked or expected more! Great Doctor, great Surgical facility.
