Customer experiences
Stopped in to look at sunglasses and browse. What an excellent store. A modern oasis of serenity, style, and creativity in Soho. The team of associates was stellar. Every person I interacted with was friendly, knowledgeable, responsive, and possessed worldly fashion skills.
This Prada store feels more like a stage than a shop. The display and runway-style experience flow together with no clear boundaries, so you’re constantly moving between fashion, architecture, and performance. You can feel the massive budget and ambition behind the space—every corner is bold and intentional. Even in New York, where incredible spaces are everywhere, this is easily a must-visit. Honestly worth stopping by just to experience the space, even if you don’t buy a thing.
Today I visited the Prada store and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. When we arrived, the doorman was extremely kind and politely asked us to wait for the associate who would assist us. That initial interaction was the only positive part of the visit. Shortly after, several associates appeared and immediately assumed that we did not speak the language. One female associate approached us without greeting us, stayed on her phone the entire time, ignored our questions, and simply followed us around the store, which felt uncomfortable and inappropriate. Because we were not receiving any assistance, I approached another associate to ask about a specific product. His response was dismissive and unhelpful. He told me, “This is the women’s section, I don’t think this is the right place,” and when I asked again, he said that if the item was not in the men’s section, he did not know. I did not understand the repeated emphasis on the product needing to be strictly in the men’s section, especially when I was asking about a specific item, not browsing by category. Throughout all of this, the associate who was supposed to help us remained behind us without offering any assistance or clarification. The situation became very uncomfortable for both my husband and me. Overall, the customer service was poor, dismissive, and humiliating. This experience was far below the standards expected from a luxury brand like Prada, and it is not an experience I would recommend to anyone.
My wife bought me an expensive pair of Prada shoes for Christmas. They didn't quite fit. Upon trying to return the shoes, they did not allow me to return without having my wife's credit card...so I went home. I returned to the store a week later and tried to return the shoes. The store associate then told me I was past the return window, and that not only would they process a return, they would also not exchange the shoes. Today, Prada lost a customer for life. I hope it was worth it for them.
