Customer experiences
If you’re in Ahmedabad and want a cultural dining experience, Vishalla restaurant is a must-visit. At night, the place isn’t very well lit from the main road, so it’s best to follow Google Maps carefully. Don’t worry though, once you see a large open parking area and a board with the name, you’ll know you’ve arrived at the right spot. The entrance itself sets the mood. A pathway lit with lanterns placed on the ground leads you in, creating an earthy, calming vibe right from the start. At the booking desk, we were welcomed with a traditional song, and instantly the entire atmosphere transported us into a village setting. The concept is somewhat similar to Chowki Dhani, but Vishalla has its own unique charm. What makes it special is the addition of a Utensil Museum and an Art space. We explored both before dinner. The Utensil Museum showcases a fascinating collection of antique cookware, storage vessels, and traditional locks. One of the highlights was a fish-shaped lock. The staff demonstrated how it works, it wouldn’t open at first, and then we learned the secret.. pressing the eye of the fish allows the key to turn. Such a small detail, yet so intriguing! The Art space had a soothing, peaceful environment, quiet, aesthetic, and beautifully curated. Dinner was served in a traditional setting, with both floor seating and table arrangements available. Lanterns, dim lighting, and the earthy flooring created a truly authentic ambience. The Gujarati cuisine was elaborate and absolutely delicious, a wholesome traditional spread that felt both comforting and celebratory. The staff deserves a special mention. They were enthusiastic, welcoming, and incredibly efficient. Managing such a large setup smoothly is no small task, and their administration and coordination were impressive. Even the restrooms were clean and well maintained. Overall, Vishalla restaurant offers more than just food. it’s an experience for sure. A beautiful blend of culture, history, and hospitality. Definitely a must-visit when in Ahmedabad.
If you visit Ahmadabad you must visit Vishalla. Excellent ambience, sumptuous food, performance by local artists. The servers treat you with love. Hand washing is an experience in itself and they even provide traditional “raakh” to wash your hands. The museum boasts of one of its kind collection of old utensils which are so very unique and ancient that it transports you to a different world in history. Every decor is time piece painstakingly collected single handedly and displayed aesthetically. Visiting Vishalla is not just for eating, it’s a live experience where present and past coexist cohesively. Would recommend it to everyone
Vishala is not just a restaurant — it’s an experience. Set in a beautifully crafted village-style space with mud walls, swings, and open-air seating, it captures the essence of Gujarat’s warmth and hospitality. The traditional Gujarati thali is a feast in every sense — flavorful, wholesome, and served with love. From the kadhi and undhiyu to the chaas and sweets, every dish tastes authentic and comforting. There are options to sit cross-legged on the floor or at regular tables, both adding to the charm. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you’re always looked after. A perfect place to unwind, enjoy great food, and soak in rustic vibes. Highly recommended for families, food lovers, and anyone wanting a slice of Gujarat’s culture and cuisine!
We went for lunch at Vishalla. Overall I will give four for food. They did not have a gluten free alternative to roti or poori, usually Gujarati restaurant have rotla. And that is why we prefer the Gujarati thali. Couple or sabzi were really good, ice cream and dates as desert were also very good. I am giving four for service because we had to call them few times to get rice or something as one of my parent is gluten free. Overall I will give the place 4, do give it a try once.
