Customer experiences
The service was excellent and our dinner arrived remarkably quickly. The tomato soup and smoked haddock fishcake were tasty. The meat lasagne with garlic cheese potatoes & salad was piping hot & fine. It was washed down by a fruity shiraz. The location of the pub is great close to the Castle & Mill Pond walk in the centre of town. There's some geat views from their outdoor terrace overlooking the pond.
Our walking group's 'Christmas lunch' was successful here last year do went again. Needed to choose your food in advance since there were 10 of us. Fair enough. Everything is cooked freshly so service isn't fast. The young woman serving was helpful. Good service. My daughter was the only one to have a starter, soup of the day, no idea what it was, but she tasted various vegetables and said it was very pleasant. She had fried chicken and sweet potatoes, I had burger with blue cheese and bacon with a lovely fresh salad and fries, others had vegetable currie, chicken and burger. There was a large choice of puddings including sticky toffee, I had jam rolly poly which was great with custard, other choices were Eton mess and several ice-cream coupes. Very quiet so no atmosphere except from our group but couldn't fault the food or service. Meals are served in the rear room overlooking the Mill Pond and for once lately it wasn't raining despite a deluge being forecast. Good fresh food and nice service.
A nice location for our last night in the area. Great for a warm day to have a drink by the water with a castle view. The food was very good and reasonably priced. All 5 of us really enjoyed all 3 courses. Lovely staff. The only place I found a pint under £5 during our holiday!
So glad we came across this amazing place! First off the food is absolutely beautiful, The chef obviously takes great pride in his cooking, the food does the talking and the chef even greets you to make sure the food is top notch. The service was a well deserved 5* too, so friendly and welcoming! We came back a second day we loved it that much. The pub sits by the beautiful Pembrokeshire castle by the lake with the most amazing views. We can’t wait to come to back!
