Went to reception to enquire why I haven't been contacted for a follow-up . with my GP after a procedure at Southmead hospital. I was told to ring reception and make an appointment. I said but I'm here at reception can't you just make an appointment for me now and I was told in no uncertain terms that I couldn't do it due to patient confidentiality. . I said that there is nothing confidential in arranging a date and time. The receptionist still refused. It's high time the NHS returned to common sense.
My dad who has advanced parkinsons was given an appointment he cudnt physically get to so after speaking to the receptionist and explaining a few things they arranged a home visit which they have had today (a day later). Many thanks to the west walk team, you are doing a great job in very difficult circumstances. Once again... thanks.
Absolutely discusted with the current system that makes it impossible for senior citizens, by that I mean 80 plus, from seeking quick medical help or advice other than ringing 999. I do not want an ambulance, I don't want a medical team on my doorstep I just want to speak to someone. Is that too much to expect from a modern health service? Adrian J Waterman.
