As a new brand founder preparing for long-term production, my experience with Xcustom was deeply disappointing. I came prepared with my own blanks and properly formatted, production-ready files, yet was not treated with the professionalism expected from a production shop. During the DTG testing phase, I observed inconsistencies in pre-treat, underbase density, proper ink-load, and overall print execution. When I asked clear, informed technical questions, transparency declined rather than improved. Responses became vague or defensive instead of addressing the issues directly. I canceled only the DTG portion of my order while remaining fully willing to proceed with the DTF portion. Once it became clear that I understood the technical issues, communication slowed significantly and then halted altogether. Despite my patience and flexibility, delays continued. Updates stalled, responses were slow, and it became impossible to move forward reliably. When I requested the return of my own blanks, communication ceased entirely. Contact resumed only after it became clear I would not let the situation be ignored. Although my direct interactions were primarily with a storefront representative, this was clearly not just an individual issue. Once problems escalated, management or ownership should have taken over communication entirely. Allowing a front-line employee to continue speaking without authority or clarity damaged trust and set that employee up to fail. Due to unfulfilled services and a complete breakdown in communication, I requested a partial refund and the return of my provided blanks. No meaningful action was taken until I filed a dispute through Amex, which was resolved immediately in my favor and resulted in both the full refund being issued and my blanks being returned. As a minor but notable detail, my items were returned using another company’s UPS account (“Heights”), which raises questions about internal workflow and transparency. This was only my second order, yet the consistency of these issues points to systemic operational and leadership problems rather than isolated mistakes.

I’ve known Rich and his crew for a long time. Back in the design district with two screen printers and a handful of embroidery machines. Toured the new facility today and the progress he has made over the past 7 years is astonishing and well deserved. The hard work is here.
