We loved eating here! The atmosphere is wonderful. You have the option to build your own arepa which is fun. The arepa was one of the best I’ve had… so delicious. The French fries are amazing! Perfectly crispy, salted, and layered. I highly recommend the salchipapa and arepas. They have gluten free empanadas too!! Very rare to come by gluten free empanadas. They have a different flavor to them due to the corn dough but in no way is that a negative. The staff were very friendly. I will definitely come back here whenever in the Fort Collins area.
Yellow Crunch is such a cool little spot—it’s the only Colombian place in Fort Collins and honestly one of my favorite hidden gems. It’s in a shipping container tucked into this courtyard area, and you can just chill outside with your food. Super casual but has a great vibe. The build-your-own arepas are amazing—so many good topping options and everything always tastes super fresh. The empanadas are also unreal. Like, don’t skip them. Crispy, flavorful, perfect. It’s just one of those places that feels different from anything else in town, and in the best way. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out.
I have often stopped by Yellowcrunch to get one of their amazing juices, but as of tonight, they have a place in my heart as my favorite restaurant of all time. Someone backed into my car on College Avenue for the second time this week (yes, really), and the wonderful staff and unbelievably good food at Yellowcrunch helped turn my stressed tears into happy tears. My boyfriend was picking up dinner for us after the accident, and when they found out what happened, they recommended bandeja paisa and insisted on comping my food. I’m not exaggerating when I say this dish is AMAZING. The slow-cooked beef, pork belly and sausage were super flavorful, and when served on a bed of rice, red beans, and tender plantains, I couldn’t have asked for more. There is a really masterful combination of flavors in the salsas and veggie slaw that I wish I were able to describe better, but the whole thing just set off fireworks in my brain. This is comfort food that is just as exciting and complex as it is warm and healing. It was exactly what I needed after an embarrassing amount of time crying on the curb, and it made me feel so loved. Everyone knows that we are living in tough, scary times, and the idea that a locally-owned restaurant would still comp a stranger’s meal to make them smile is unbelievably generous. I will never forget this act of kindness, and I’m so glad that an incredible Colombian restaurant has come to Fort Collins and has introduced a whole new level of flavor to a place that didn’t have much variety. I will never stop talking about how delicious the food is and how kind everyone at the restaurant has always been, especially tonight. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. ♥️ You guys are the best.
