Dr. Farid is not only an amazing veterinarian, but he is also caring and compassionate. My cat was very sick, he wasn’t eating and he wasn’t drinking water. Dr. Farid gave me an appointment the same day. He saw my cat and he explained to me in detail what my cat had. I was crying, my cat looked really bad and Dr. Farid heard my concerns patiently . Three days later and my cat is doing AMAZING! Thanks Dr. Farid !!!
We've used Bowhill for our 13yo cat's routine vaccines without issue, but for actual health problems or emergencies, I would go to TVEH or find a different vet. The vet tech and front desk staff at Bowhill have always been wonderful, helpful, and true animal lovers. Our concern is with Dr. Farid. Our cat recently suffered a humeral fracture. Despite my mother's concerns, Dr. Farid did not perform an x-ray on the initial date of the fracture, and instead opted to send him home for monitoring. (The front desk staff did follow up to check on him, which I appreciated.) When we brought him back because his leg didn't seem to be healing, the x-ray revealed a severe fracture. A splint was applied but it was the wrong size and it fell off immediately. Dr. Farid then suggested a surgeon (Dr. Mitelman) who was found guilty of professional misconduct and neglect by the CVO (College of Veterinarians of Ontario) in 2016. This info was not actively disclosed; I had to ask for the surgeon's full name and do my own Google search. This is the point where we decided to switch vets. I recognize that being a vet is a difficult profession full of judgement calls, and mistakes can be made, but our cat has since received a much more thorough, urgent, and professional standard of care from Dr. Niki Low at McLean Animal Hospital, and the team of surgeons at TVEH. I don't normally write negative reviews of businesses because we're all human and mistakes happen. But when it comes to the life of a furry family member, I think it is important to post this experience so that other pet parents can make an informed decision. I am very grateful to Sandra and Kathryn however, who have always been extremely helpful and caring.
We have been coming to this clinic for a few months now and have had pleasant experiences every visit. They are extremely kind and compassionate individuals. They are always informative and provide you with the options and never felt like they were pressuring you. They have always been accommodating every visit. They have helped ease the process when saying goodbye to your pets and provide you with reassurance. They give you all the time you need and are always caring. I highly recommend this clinic, they will make you feel like family.
I’ve been a client here for a while, and while I really appreciate the staff especially the assistants who are always so kind and caring I just didn’t feel comfortable with Dr. Farid for anything beyond basic checkups. The visits always felt rushed, and I never felt like my cat was getting the attention and care I wanted, (I am not expecting him to treat my baby as his own- just having enough compassion and care for animals in general). So, I made the decision to switch to a new clinic, and I could immediately feel the difference. The new vet took the time to explain everything, was genuinely compassionate, and made me feel like my cat was in the best hands. please rethink twice if you ever decide to be a client here or if you are and want the best treatment for you babies, consider switching.
