Customer experiences
Came in to get my birthday gift with the loyalty program before I move away to Ireland tonight. I came one day earlier, hoping they would be able to help me out and Tiffany was extremely unhelpful and said she could not give me my birthday gift because I was a day early. Loyal customer, but very disapointed in the service and I hope Tiffany learns to focus on customer satisfaction. It’s a silly rule and this company should do better. Sephora would never.
I am a Black customer and purchased the Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense sunscreen with high expectations. Nowhere in the product description or marketing was it made clear that this formula leaves such an intense white cast that it is practically impossible for someone with darker skin to wear. Even when I apply less than the recommended amount, I look like a ghost, which is embarrassing and completely impractical for everyday use. When I contacted customer service, I was told that nothing could be done because more than 28 days had passed since my purchase. This rigid response shows no flexibility or real concern for customer satisfaction. I feel deeply disappointed that a global brand like Kiehl’s still puts out a sunscreen that seems designed only for white skin, without being transparent about this limitation. This experience has left me with an unusable product and has seriously damaged my trust in the brand. At the very least, I believe Kiehl’s should offer a refund or allow me to exchange this product for something that actually works for my skin tone.
Nothing against this store in particular, but in the general sense the customer services policy is a joke. Gift cards aren't applicable for online use and with only one actual store downtown it's a pretty frustrating policy. Calling the store I got told to contact customer service to "change the card from a physical to online gift card" and calling customer service I got told I have to call the store to do this. The policies are set up in a way to not have to actually "deal" with or help customers, and one can imagine that the person who came up with the idea of customers purchasing unusable gift cards was highly praised at HQ.
I’ve had the most helpful experience today at the shop. Ashley was very nice and gave me so many tips on my skin after a skin test. I will definitely be back!
