I came on a Saturday evening to watch the Leafs playoff game thinking it would be packed and I would have a hard time finding a seat. When we arrived around 6:45, there were still plenty of tables to pick. The staff let us choose wherever we wanted to sit. We decided to sit at a table right in front of the big screen to watch the game. Despite it being a busy night and the tables were full, service was still really good. The servers were really nice and attentive, and we received our drinks and food fast. We ordered: - BBQ Chicken Nachos ($19.50) 9/10. Big portion, chips were crispy, sauces were good. - Steak Frites ($18.00) 8/10. Fries were crispy. Steak was decent Overall, we wish we knew about this place sooner! We love the pub vibes here, service was great, prices are good, food was good, atmosphere was great. They even have a pool table in the back. Highly recommend coming here to watch a game on the big screen.
I had lunch here for the first time on a Friday. The place was pretty empty, but I was told it does get busy later Friday afternoon and on weekends. There's plenty of free parking. The decor and ambience are like an English pub or cottage: dark, with lots of wood and dark beams in a white ceiling. It's a large place with plenty of seating and a nice billiards area. Several very comfortable booths are next to large windows by the front entrance, with a good view of Yonge Street. There are also a lot of TVs to watch sports, if that's your thing. The service was fast and friendly. The draft was a full pour. I had the chicken ciabatta sandwich with fries. The sandwich was tasty but a bit small. The fries were plentiful, hot and fresh. I like that they give you full bottles of ketchup and mayo - too many places give you microscopic bowls of these. The total for the sandwich and draft with tip and tax was $35, about average. It's not the most modern joint, but it has much more character and charm than many chain restaurants, making it a fun place to be. I'll come back here to try other dishes, as their menu is quite extensive. No desserts, though, unfortunately!
Had lunch with three other buddies yesterday. First time here, What a great spot! Food was really good, reasonably priced and the atmosphere was very "homey". Our server, Meri, is a rock star! She gave us great lunch reco's, served all our drinks (great prices!) "lickety-split", and was very pleasant with a great sense of humour. Well done Meri...we'll be back soon!
