Customer experiences
I've gone in for many labs and procedures over the past 7 years. The one person I always love dealing with is the desk worker I felt with today, 8/28/2025 at 1:10 this afternoon. I am horrible with names but she has short hair and glasses and works almost every day. She looks out for everyone, is kind and always happy. Today she reminded me I needed a mammogram and I am very grateful. She deserves to be noticed and applauded for who she is and how she is with anyone who walks in.
Went in for an adverse allergic reaction to a spider bite. Sat in the waiting room for 3.5 hours as I could feel the heat and burning from the rashing up my arm, across my chest, and up my neck and face spreading. It has contaminated my mouth to the point of a swollen tongue, and my husband had to call an ambulance for me as soon as I got home after my throat partially closed, which required epinephrine and a ride to yet another hospital. I told the triage nurse that came in to see me about all this and she stated it was just my “anxiety”, mind you, I’ve been on a medium dosage anxiety pill for the last 1.5 weeks, which she’d have known if she checked my chart FIRST, like she should have done. It took them 2.5 hours to realize I left after being verbally assaulted by a staff member who couldn’t see the hives on a highly tanned, freckled faced, Native American-German woman. Mind you, when I stepped out I looked both directions down the hall, waited a minute, and checked the nurses station and there was not a single nurse at the station, so I left, because it was clear to me that my medical care was not of any concern after I clearly stated I had done a tele-health at 9am, was told to go to walk-in, by the time I reached walk-in, it was in my nose and on my lips, so they wanted me to go to an emergency room, which is what I did. I’m so thankful I transferred my care to another physicians office in Fort Wayne, even if I have to drive 50 minutes to get there! To top it off, Dr Tarlton has a history with me of saying one thing and prescribing medications clearly stated on my medical chart I’m allergic to, including gaslighting me when I state something isn’t anxiety. (For example, the time I almost died after my gallbladder ruptured because he couldn’t even look at an ultrasound and see they had taken a photo of my KIDNEY). For a triage doctor, he should be able to see more than 3 patients per day and know what a vital organ looks like. They try to fool you with “we’re full” every-time you go in. They’re not, they’re lazy. Thankfully, I’m smarter than their corrupt system and I provided photo and video footage to my insurance rep of the empty hallway and nurses station, and myself leaving, otherwise they’d try to bill ME because their medical degrees are from a Cracker Jack box. I feel absolutely awful for the family who has a family member there in serious medical health because this is not a hospital, it’s a circus. I hope by pure luck and god’s will that he grants her peace and helps her heal, or makes sure she doesn’t suffer like most other female patients here do.
One of the worst hospitals and Emergency rooms in the state. This isn’t a place that you go to for medical treatment, this is a place you go to die. The ER nurses are always rude and Dr. Scott Tarlton has to be one of the laziest and most worthless physicians. Not sure how you can assess a patient without doing a physical exam and just saying they are fine. Apparently having fevers is just normal.
The billing department is a joke. I feel very scammed right now. I called on April 25th to have two bills added to my $50 monthly payments that I’m making on my previous bills (yes, you have to call every single time you get a new bill and have it added onto the payment plan.) I can only do that though if I actually get the bills, in the first place. I have always paid my bills promptly. I call every single new bill that I actually do get. But anyhow, this is the second time they have sent me to collections over a bill that I have either paid already, or that I called about, to be added onto my payment plan. I’m recording every single call from now on. I’ve edited my review now because I talked to them and the lady was very helpful. I told her that they need to make their billing easier to understand. It’s so confusing. They are supposed to be emailing me information for the online portal. Perhaps that will help. We shall see. I have not gotten that email yet though.
Adams Memorial Hospital is a general hospital.
