Customer experiences
Had high hopes for a Michelin rated restaurant. But it was disappointing unfortunately the $92 per person set menu was just mid. The snacks were very pretty, but strange tasting. The halibut hot and sour soup and the Wagyu beef salad were good. The curry and other dishes weren’t bad but if you go to your local Thai restaurant, you can get the same quality for half the price. Hubby ordered a second beer, but never got it. We were served three different kinds of bite-size dessert. Rice pudding one was the best. The other two were just OK. Since we were celebrating hubby‘s birthday, they gave us a free dessert with a candle on it. That was a very sweet and thoughtful gesture.
We were a party of 6 so they made us get the family style dinner package. The food was good, especially the soups. The desserts were also great. Favorites were Wagyu salad, pork cheek and the sable fish. But I wish we had more flexibility over what we could order. It didn’t seem worth it for $92 plus 20% guaranteed tips for a large party. Would eat here as a smaller party.
What an amazing Thai restaurant with incredible food. We went on a Saturday night for the family style dinner. Added on some additional items like dumplings, roti and pad Thai. The food is well portioned out for regular eaters having the family style, but as someone going in hungry was glad to have added on. All dishes we had were exceptional. Well balanced, good flavours and beautiful presentation. Purchased the cook book on the way out so we could try doing more at home.
Excellent food that fell short just a bit. Flavor profile was on spot, but the texture was just a bit off. From the chicken being slightly on the overcooked side to the mushy Pad Thai, while flavors overcame the issue in general, the mouth feel just wasn't on point. Service was excellent with servers paying just enough attention in a packed dining room. One key issue was the constantly flickering light above the bathroom, which was both frequent enough to be distracting, but random enough that no one knew if it was intentional. Either swap your bulbs or hire an electrician please to check your wires.
Alouette Bistro is a french restaurant.
