Altea Ottawa is an amazing gym — super clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need, whether it’s lifting, cardio, or group classes. The facilities are top-notch and the overall atmosphere is motivating. But the real highlight for me is Emma G’s spin class. She brings so much energy and positivity that the class flies by. It’s hands down the best spin class in the city, so popular you’ve got to book early because it’s always waitlisted. Totally worth it every time!

Hard product is pretty nice and still under construction. Soft product and policies could use improvement. My review covers the sales experience I received and my experience of the $50 day pass. TLDR: pricing wouldn’t be egregious if everything was complete. It’s more of a club than just gym, decent place to get a work out in, socializing and work in as there is a lot of seating. The not fully working HVAC would be my biggest concern going into summer. There are large fans for the pickleball courts, not sure if it was properly designed for ventilation or if the fans are temporary. Disregarding price of the subscription and day pass I would have given a 4/5 stars, considering value of the day pass I’d have to give a 3. *Tour* I booked a tour, and I was 15 mins late which they were accommodating of, however the tour for that reason or another felt rushed. My guide didn’t really walk me through what was available, and didn’t show me all the areas of the huge complex. We spent a few seconds in each area of the complex, but not much more explanation on how things work. Pretty quickly after, we sat down and they were trying to sell me. I wouldn’t say the pitch was high pressure, but a little pushy, arrogant, and condescending towards anyone who considers the price of the membership. They kept on saying ‘if you care about price this isn’t the place for you,’ sounds condescending. It is a premium gym, and I would expect premium pricing but still the numbers have to make sense and be worth it. I would expect premium service too, but I didn’t get the greatest first impression that I would receive that. The guide also kept bringing up that prices will increase in a couple days. From reading other reviews it does seem like prices are rising frequently and it is a sales tactic others have experienced. To be honest the tour experience is a shame because I would have probably signed up that day, but the attitude and sales experience turned me off. *Day Pass* The facilities are quite nice, but there is still construction going on. The good is that for $50 you at least get re-entry the whole day. Doesn’t seem like their HVAC is fully operational either, there are AC machines everywhere and the weight area is warmer than I would expect. There are roof leaks in some areas, and construction work still going on internally, which hinders the experience. My encounters with the staff were great and significantly different from my sales pitch. The one let down is that there’s a recovery lounge that would cost $22 extra for entry even with the day pass. That’s unfortunate as I was hoping to use the day pass to experience everything. In the lounge are massage chairs, leg compression recovery, and massage guns. I think for $50 the recovery lounge should be included if availability allows. Won’t say too much about the equipment, there’s a lot of variety for weightlifting. Tons of cardio equipment. Bench equipment is standard, not good for serious lifting as there’s only 3 height settings. The racks may be better for bench. Dry and wet saunas are available in the locker rooms which is pretty nice. Unfortunately no cold plunges available. There is decent seating space just to work and hang out. Lastly, you’ll see others mention the parking. I went at 830am and it was fairly busy tho not hard to find parking. I cannot imagine what it would be like during peak hours. Also a section has been closed off for an event when I went. A couple suggestions: leave a bucket of water in the dry sauna and a rooftop lounge would be nice for tanning or cold plunges

Kristy's Mobility and Stretch Class - Wednesday's at 5:15 is fantastic. My hip has never felt better since I started attending. She takes the time to clearly explain each exercise and it's purpose, which makes it easy to understand how it benefits the body. The session is well-structured, relaxing and incredibly effective for improving mobility and flexibility. Highly recommend this class to anyone looking to feel better and move better!
