Customer experiences
They offers good medical care with experienced and caring doctors. The hospital is clean and well-organized, providing a comfortable environment for patients. At times, it gets crowded, which can make waiting longer than expected. Overall, it’s a trustworthy place for healthcare services. The doctors are patient and explain treatments thoroughly. Limited parking means it’s better to come a bit early.
Bangladesh Medical College Hospital (BMCH) is the teaching hospital affiliated with Bangladesh Medical College—the oldest private medical college in Bangladesh, established in 1986 and affiliated with the University of Dhaka . Located at House No. 34/35, Road No. 14/A, Dhanmondi, the hospital is a key clinical facility for its students and the wider community . Infrastructure & Facilities The hospital spans two modern buildings—including a Community Welfare and Health Care Centre (CWHCC)—and accommodates approximately 500 to 600 inpatients, with a mix of general beds, paid beds, cabins, and free beds reserved for the underprivileged . It features a modern Accident & Emergency Department and is equipped with an in‑house oxygen plant, efficient waste disposal, and a structured bed allocation policy that reserves roughly 10% of capacity for poor patients . The broader college and hospital complex also boasts well‑equipped classrooms, tutorial rooms, a fully air‑conditioned anatomy dissection hall, labs, and a library with thousands of volumes and journal subscriptions . Academic & Clinical Value BMCH serves as the core clinical training ground for MBBS students under the University of Dhaka’s five-year curriculum, following the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council's standards—and grants graduates eligibility for international qualifications such as registration with GMC (UK) and USMLE . Public Perception & Experience Patient feedback is mixed. Some praise the hospital for its affordability, smart services, and strong facilities—highlighting its status as a reputable private hospital in Dhanmondi . However, others mention issues such as overcrowding, long waiting times, and occasional reports of staff being rude—signaling areas for improvement . Overall Impression Bangladesh Medical College Hospital is an influential private academic hospital offering commendable medical training and broad-spectrum patient services at reasonable costs. Its strong infrastructure and institutional support make it an important healthcare provider in Dhaka. Yet, to fully live up to expectations, continued focus on improving patient experience and managing patient flow effectively will be vital for its future development.
Bangladesh Medical College Hospital is widely regarded as one of the best private medical institutions, known for its cutting-edge medical technology, experienced faculty, and comprehensive healthcare services. It offers world-class education in medicine while providing top-tier patient care through its fully equipped, multi-specialty hospital. With a strong focus on innovation, ethical medical practice, Bangladesh Medical College Hospital consistently ranks among the top choices for aspiring doctors and patients alike.
Service is not like it used to be. Although some doctors are pretty good here. The emergency section is in absolutely horrid condition. Staff boys sitting and chilling on the emergency beds. Nurses have no idea that any person can administer a tetanus shot and is actually recommended every 5-10 years, I don't understand what they really learn in nursing school in BD. No person in emergency to collect the payment, only 1 overworked employee on the other building. I went to their emergency multiple times throughout my life, about 90% of the time there was some young, chill and well educated doctor who knew exactly what he/she was doing. Recent visit was absolutely horrendous, they became a shorkari hospital without becoming an actual shorkari hospital.
Bangladesh Specialized Hospital is a private hospital.
