We recently started planning our anniversary celebration, and it reminded us of what a wonderful experience our wedding at Shangri-La Mactan was five years ago. Our wedding took place during the pandemic, and although many of our original plans had to change, the team went above and beyond to make sure our celebration was still truly special. We are especially grateful to Ellen and Maureen from the Events Department for their kindness, professionalism, and patience throughout the process, as well as to Tisha of Bliss Unlimited, one of the resort’s accredited wedding planners, who helped make everything run smoothly from start to finish. Because of how well everything was handled, we are now planning a bigger anniversary celebration and hope to work with the same amazing team again. Shangri-la Mactan will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and we highly recommend them to anyone planning a wedding or special event. Alenah

We stayed at the Shanghai-La Mactan Cebu for a week. The resort is absolutely gorgeous with incredible employees- everyone is helpful and courteous. The resort has multiple daily activities including snorkeling which were great. We tried most of the restaurants and they were great! Acqua which was Italian was tasty ; Buko Bar was also yummy! Highly recommended for a relaxing hotel with good pools and calm environment.

We stayed for two nights in the Manumbalik Villa / King and absolutely loved the space. The villa is large enough, with two showers, a steam room, and a private pool, a really nice setup that made the stay feel special. The Club Lounge on the 8th floor was another highlight, with a great view and a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent as well, easily one of the best parts of the stay. Beach and beach bar were very nice we never used the pool as there was lots of kids. Our only disappointment was that our room was not made up on our only full day/night, even after asking twice, once when we headed out at 3pm to get a massage and again after. For a property of this level, we expected housekeeping to be more attentive. Despite that, we genuinely enjoyed the villa and the overall experience, and we would definitely stay here again.

Awful Experience. It was a special occasion for us to stay at the hotel before flying home from our 20th anniversary trip exploring the Philippines. I had Severe food poisoning around 6 hours after eating dinner at the aqua Italian restaurant. Relentlessly sick since 4am, I am now being forced to lay in a public area with a sick bowl after they refused for us to stay in the hotel room beyond 4pm even though they also recommend I go to a hospital for treatment. They said we could only stay in the room if we paid for another full rate night (even though we have to be at the airport in the evening anyway- I just needed somewhere to sit it out) so they had the space, but only if you pay even more money for shocking treatment. They did send a nurse up who agreed I was very sick but at first they wanted to charge me for the meds. The vongole at aqua is the only possible cause as every other meal had been shared with my partner. They have also refused to refund the meal. We had hoped to enjoy a lovely breakfast and make use of all the swimming facilities etc before making our way to the airport and had originally agreed a slightly later check out of 1pm. Obviously this would have been completely fine if I hadn’t become ill from the hotel food. It’s as if they thought we were lying and decided to just get as much money from us as possible We haven’t been able to use any of the facilities or breakfast.The tv in the bedroom didn’t even work, a basic that would have been good for my partner whilst he nursed me. Absolutely disgusting treatment. It’s such a shame because the staff independently are lovely as they have been across our travels.
