Celebration Church Clovis Campus

I attended this church and genuinely enjoyed the experience overall. The people were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt friendly and open. That said, I was disappointed in the guest speaker for the service, a former pro athlete. I couldn’t help but feel that his invitation to preach was more about his public image and success than any spiritual calling. While I have nothing against him personally and can respect his achievements, the message he gave didn’t feel led by God. The entire sermon centered around his own success story, his career, his wealth, his personal goals, and he even showed a video that focused more on his good deeds than on Jesus. He would mention Jesus here and there, but it often felt like an afterthought rather than the heart of the message. He almost cussed (but caught himself) and there was also a strong emphasis on money, particularly around funding his dream school project. The message seemed to center around, “Look how God came through for me,” rather than pointing others toward Christ. What added to the awkwardness was that his whole family showed up, but only because he was preaching, and they were all wearing his pro jersey, which made it feel more like a promotional event than a worship service. I went in hoping to hear a Christ-centered message, but walked away feeling like the platform was being used to elevate a brand, not the Gospel. Again, nothing against the speaker as a person, but I left wishing the message had been more about God and less about self.

I walked into Celebration Church while living a life of drugs, gangs, sexual immorality & every kind of evil imaginable. I was shown SO MUCH LOVE by everyone there even when I didn't want it...I just wanted to be left alone. BUT GOD won't leave you alone. I moved to Clovis in 2005, a year & half after my 1st visit because I knew this is where God wanted me planted. THIS is a place of Miracles, I am a walking miracle of what God can do. Man did not change me GOD DID & I'm abundantly blessed for it. God don't clean his fish before he catches them, COME AS YOU ARE...YOU ARE WELCOME in the House of the Lord. Welcome to CELEBRATION CHURCH!!!!

I wonder what would have happened if Celebration had given money to the poor instead of asking the poor for money. It has taken me years to prayerfully process the spiritual and emotional abuse I experienced here. If, when raising money you had really cared for your community ( yes I know u have outreaches) what would have happened to the poor in Fresno. But Randy insisted you demand funds so as to use on yourself. Although not homeless, I have been called to minister among them sometimes. Shaking my head at how committed you’ve been to using God to create a utopia that ignores the poor. Shameful.
