The whole complex is dated. Wasn’t even sure the beds were made from the day before? No hand soap no body wash limited TP. Breakfast was acceptable, on Saturday staff didn’t look or act like they wanted to be there kept breakfast lined to a minimum and no yogurt. Sausage was cold. Saw nobody at front desk and the phone was ringing off the hook. Only good restaurant was across the street interstate back of Loves. Nothing else close would have to go down or back an exit off of 65. Pool was nice exercise room well maintained, lobby was clean but refrigerated refreshments were low in product levels. Ok for one night.
The hotel itself was very nice. Breakfast and breakfast workers were great!! They were such hard workers and did a fantastic job. Michael the nightshift desk clerk was amazing and went above and beyond to fix the ice maker this Labor Day weekend when it was broken. He was awesome every time we had to go to the lobby. My only complaint is that we received no room service the entire 3 nights we stayed. No towels, no trash taken out, nothing whatsoever. We had to go to the lobby every time we needed towels. One of the housekeepers was very nice and brought us an extra blanket. Overall, nice hotel and good staff!!
As a travel-loving family always on the go, we booked the Holiday Inn Express in Horse Cave, Kentucky, for its proximity to some of the coolest attractions in the area. And honestly, location-wise, it didn’t disappoint. Just 15 to 20 minutes from spots like Mammoth Cave National Park and other must-sees, it’s a great home base for adventure. The complimentary breakfast was also a solid win. A nice spread that kept our crew fueled for cave tours and hiking trails. Waffles, eggs, coffee… all the essentials. But let’s talk about the part that really missed the mark: room service. At check-in, I was asked if I wanted housekeeping, and I said yes. Pretty straightforward. After our first day out, we returned to find that only one of the two beds was made, and none of the dirty towels had been removed. Weird, but fine. I called the front desk, and they said someone would be up to take care of it. Night two? No housekeeping came at all. I called around 3 PM to ask if someone could swing by, and again was told they’d send someone right up. Spoiler alert: we came back from dinner and a movie at 9 PM and nothing. Still no fresh towels. Still no cleaned room. I’m a pretty patient traveler, but when I’ve followed up twice and still nothing is done, it’s frustrating. Consistency and cleanliness are part of what you expect from a Holiday Inn Express, and unfortunately, this location just didn’t deliver on that promise. Would I stay again for the location? Maybe. But only if I packed extra towels and adjusted my expectations.
