Commander Hotel & Suites

I stayed two nights. Nice staff. Rooms need an overhaul.... especially the bathrooms. The bathroom needed a good cleaning. I had a ring in the vanity sink. The toilet had "settlement" that could have been wiped/scrubbed. All bathroom caulking should have been replaced long ago. There were flying bugs surrounding the window and dead ones all over the AC unit. The mattress was completely worn and offered zero back support. I woke up with back pain each morning. The rooms have a weird smell. There is a tip jar at the self-serve complimentary coffee station.

Such a great value, and such an unexpectedly pleasant stay! I needed a place to stop for the night (too tired to continue driving through a thunderstorm) so I pulled into the McDonald's in Clear Spring to use the WiFi. Reviews for this hotel literally feet away looked decent, so I reserved a room -- and I'm so glad I did. The staff give this hotel such a friendly and welcoming vibe. Everyone from the night clerk to the housekeeping staff to the morning check-out clerk said hello to me and was pleasant and personable, and I appreciate that so much! I had a room in the back facing greenery (room 209) so it was quiet and felt private even when I opened the shades in the morning. The room felt spacious with plenty of counter space at the bathroom sink, room for my luggage, and a place to sit other than the bed. Breakfast was abundant and hot and tasty, with pre-made omelettes and meats and plenty of yogurts for proteins as well as a variety of breakfast carbs. Indoor pool and workout area looked clean and inviting, I just didn't have time to take advantage of them.

The service was quick and friendly, however the room was awful. The AC was off which left the room hot and muggy. It felt very icky… even the sheets and comforters were moist/damp. It did not feel clean or fresh. The refrigerator was also turned off, therefore it couldn’t be used until it cooled off. My family did not enjoy the stay.
