I adopted a 5 year old Male cat from SPCA Richmond.... Best thing I ever did!! "Jagger" He's Absolutely Wonderful!!! He'd been there about 47 days and know he was in need of lots of loving and a new forever home! Well... He made himself at home immediately! He's so happy!!! Why not adopt!! He's made me so happy, so loving and affectionate while also playful and kinda hilarious at times!! I love this little guy...! So many cats & dogs who just want a new loving home! Sooooooooo Rewarding! They are really nice there and take care of everything you need to then take home your new little boy/girl. I cannot recommend enough.....!! I couldn't be happier! He took to me right away. We are Fabulous together!! 😊😺 Thank you to everyone at Richmond SPCA for helping me find my new 4 legged love!! 😻

If you adopt a female animal, make sure to confirm they have already spayed or at least tested for pregnancy. I adopted a large dog here and found out the hard way that they neglected to test her. It could’ve easily been detected with a wide variety of common testing methods. I brought her back for additional vaccinations when she was a mere 2 weeks away from her due date with a prominent belly, and they still did not test. When it was finally discovered, they scheduled a spay-abort procedure when it was a risk to her life. I was forced to watch this poor girl’s belly become huge while we waited for the spay abort appointment. I didn't need those 8 pups on my conscience. The vet said it was a high risk procedure due to the level of uterine inflammation at that stage of pregnancy. This unfortunate trauma to both of us could've easily been prevented if the Richmond SPCA followed basic due dillegence. Thankfully, a wonderful vet at the Vancouver SPCA performed the high risk procedure and did a magnificent job keeping the sweet girl alive. Someone at the Vancouver team informed me that the Richmond SPCA had been having internal issues with their management. I have great respect for the work of the BCSPCA as a whole, but this location is clearly disorganized.

I had such a positive experience adopting my cat Olive through the Richmond SPCA. The staff was unbelievably kind, responsive, and supportive throughout the whole process. It is clear how much genuine love they have for the animals in their care. I couldn’t be more grateful to them for helping me bring her home!

I recently visited the Richmond SPCA with my son, hoping to meet some adoptable cats. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. One older red haired staff member was noticeably rude and dismissive from the moment we arrived. Instead of being welcoming or helpful, her attitude came across as impatient and outright unpleasant. The worst part came as we were leaving. I overheard this same staff member call my son “retarded” under her breath. Hearing a staff member speak that way about anyone, let alone a CHILD, was shocking and completely unacceptable. This visit left us feeling disrespected and extremely upset. I truly hope management addresses the behaviour of certain staff, because no family should have this kind of experience at an animal shelter. I plan on following up to make sure this has been dealt with.
