Customer experiences
We were really disappointed with our experience at Lakawon. We arrived at 8:30 AM and were told there was only ONE boat going to the island, and we had to wait until around 2 PM. That’s almost 5–6 hours of waiting. What’s worse is that locals outside said they’ve only had one boat for weeks, yet the resort keeps accepting reservations and walk-ins. If you know you only have one boat, why not control the bookings? Why not assign arrival times or limit guests per trip? We had a reservation and still ended up waiting for hours with no proper system. That’s poor planning. The staff at the ticketing area also had an attitude, like they were the ones inconvenienced. When we asked questions, they just said it’s not their fault. But if not yours, then whose? Management should handle this better. The beach itself is beautiful, we really liked it. But the facilities don’t match how the resort promotes itself. No hot shower, no WiFi, and no Tawhay Bar. It doesn’t feel “luxurious” at all. Such a waste because the island has so much potential. The problem isn’t the place .it’s the management.
The room was spacious, we booked two Junior Suites and one Condo Suite. They also provide an extra bed for all the rooms as requested. It was quiet and there are only a few people on the island. There are TVs but it is useless since there is no signal/wifi in the condo suite. You need to go to the common area for signal. Food was great! It improved but there is a limited selection for veggies and other menu options because they ran out of ingredients. The cocktails were also decent, you can ask for the margaritas to be converted to frozen/blended margaritas without additional charges. You must try the Cajun seafood and Sinigang na tangigue. For breakfast, the chorizo is a standout.
Not recommended at all. 1. Boat trips depend on passenger count, so you may end up waiting hours or paying extra for a Special trip. 2. The advertised departure times aren’t always followed, especially on weekends or holidays. 3. Showers and restrooms are limited and often not well-maintained. 4. Cottages and Rooms are rustic and overpriced compared to the quality offered. 5. Menu options are limited, and prices are high for the portion size. Waiting time for meals can be long. 6. The Tawhai Floating Bar is supposed to be the main attraction, but it’s not always available. Sometimes it’s closed early, under maintenance, or inaccessible due to weather. For a resort that markets this as its highlight, it’s a letdown. 7. The bar shuts down at 8 PM, so forget about night parties or late-night events. If you’re expecting a lively island nightlife, you’ll be disappointed. 8. Beverages cost more than what you’d pay at other high-end resorts, yet the quality and service don’t match the price. It feels like you’re paying for the name, not the experience. The island looks good in photos, but the reality is underwhelming. Between unreliable boat schedules, basic facilities, and the floating bar being inconsistent, repeat visits only highlight the same frustrations. Lakawon is fine for a quick day trip, but if you’re looking for consistent service, nightlife, or value for money, it’s not the place. It feel more like a tourist trap than a true island getaway.
I suppose this is my most memorable experience in Negros. When you're staying in Bacolod, you have to ride a bus going to Cadiz. From Cadiz, you need to ride a tricycle to port going to Lakawon Island Resort. From port to the resort is just 15 minutes boat ride before you see the magnificent resort. Note that there's a Php 550 fee for the boat ride (back and forth), environmental fee, and including of a cottage fee. I didn't get a cottage because they were fullybooked that time. But they still have tables and chairs to leave your stuff and you can still enjoy. The weather was calm and not that sunny and it's nice to roam around the island. They have restaurant and bar in the center of the resort. The cottages are so pretty as well as the rooms when you plan to spend the night there. They also have a camp site at the back of the island perfect for family or barkadas camping. Shower rooms were clean and you can rent a towel at the reception worth Php 200 just leave a valid ID. I would also give a credit for the staff!! They were amazing!! I would definitely visit again and stay longer!
