Over a year ago we hired District Stairs to remove the carpet and do the stairs in our house. In summary, it was a nightmare of a process that took two months to be completed: There were constant last minute cancellations, delays, shoddy work, late arrivals, something we had never experienced before with contractors. When the work was finally completed in January, 2025 we let the owner know of two really bad finishes and sent him a message on January 13. He replied saying he'd have that fixed. We followed up on Feb 7, 13, 20 and 26, nothing was done or scheduled. We tried again on April 21 and he messaged back telling us to call the store. We did and they told us they'd get back to us. They never did. I sent an email on July 21 and the answer I got was a vague "we will book you in August" with no specific date. I replied back and got no answer. I called in August and told them it was my last try. They booked us for August 27 so I sent pictures of what needed to be fixed. On August 27 they sent a woman who had no idea why she was there. She thought we were trying to get a quote to fix a job done by someone else. She didn't have any tools or came prepared for anything. They sent a final email asking for an opportunity to fix the issues. We never replied because we were done with them and this is far more important: If this review saves a potential customer from numerous headaches, frustrations, delays, cancellations, shoddy work and poor customer service, then we'll gladly pay someone else to fix the issues. Update after owner’s reply: Unsurprisingly, District Stairs did what they usually do after a customer leaves a bad review of their experience: They claim it is fake or they shift the blame to the customer. It is precisely that lack of accountability and self-reflection that led to our poor experience. District Stairs had an entire year to address our issues but never cared about us as customers until we shared this review. That should tell you everything you need to know about this company.

I am thoroughly disappointed in the level of disrespect I experienced with District Stairs. Outside of the unsatisfactory level of service, Marlon continued to demonstrate unprofessionalism throughout the duration of our project. My colleague and I had skepticism about hiring him, but we decided against our better judgment. Outside of the mess that was constantly left, he continually arrived late even after requesting a punctual start time. I strongly discourage anyone from using District Stairs. The craftsmanship was sloppy and bore the markings of someone highly inexperienced. It was necessary for me to hire another contractor to complete the job properly.

Thank you to Marlon, Keroy and all at District Stairs for a job well done. I had used another company to remove carpet from stairs and install new oak capping and sand and stain existing railing. That company did such a bad job and created so many issues. I had Marlon out for a quote and he diligently made note of all of the problems and explained how District Stairs would rectify. He assured me that I didn’t have to purchase a new railing. He advised it only needed to be sanded and stained properly and they would fix all of the gouging. So said, so done. The experience and craftsmanship that Keroy the installer put into the job shows and the stairs look amazing now. I wish I had originally used District Stairs! I would highly recommend them!
