My dog papichulo just came home from his 2 day stay at the ICU for aspiration pneumonia. From the initial check in, during his stay and the day of his discharge, the whole process was smooth. They take such good care of every patient that comes in and you can tell that they love what they do. They saved my dog’s life because of their loving care and expertise. Their pricing is upfront and transparent. Yes, it is expensive, but thats the cost it takes to save your pet’s life and it’s absolutely NOT price gouging. That’s what pet insurance is for. The doctors and staff are all amazing. I wish I remembered everyone’s names. Thank you Dr. Mason! Papi is very well loved and he’s home with us because of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My cat (Cashmere) and I had a great experience with the ophthalmology team at this clinic! I arrived 45 mins early (only 15 mins early is required) but they were able to have us checked in, seen quickly, and checked out even before my original appointment time. The techs and assistants were great with handling my cat and the doctor was very informative! I’m very happy with the care we got here!

I took my dog here for an emergency visit because he was in a lot of pain in his rib area, and this was by far the most unprofessional and unfriendly veterinary facility I’ve ever been to. I say this with confidence — I’ve owned dogs, cats, horses, rats, birds and reptiles (love animals grew up with animals), and I’ve lived in three different countries, visiting many different vets along the way. When we arrived, they immediately took my dog into triage and essentially disappeared with him for over three hours. During that time, I sat outside with no updates whatsoever. Anytime I asked how much longer it would be, the only answer I got was, “We can’t tell you.” At 11 PM, the doctor finally came out and told me some crap, it “seemed like he has some jaw problem.” No tests were run. No real explanation was given. He simply did a quick physical exam, prescribed a week’s worth of painkillers, and sent me back to the lobby to wait again. I wasn’t even allowed to see my dog at that point. The discharge process was just as bad — it took another 45 minutes just to handle the billing. In the end, I paid $438 for nothing more than words, no diagnostics, and painkillers, all while my dog was kept away from me for hours. This was, without a doubt, the worst veterinary experience I’ve ever had. If you have any other option, I strongly recommend you take it. In my opinion, anyone who takes advantage of animals and their owners in such vulnerable moments has a very special place in h3l1.

We had a very positive experience with Dr. DeRose and the entire team at the VEC. From the very beginning, the staff was incredibly kind and provided clear, detailed instructions—sometimes over the phone, other times by email—about every step of our pup's procedure. They were also very accommodating in helping us schedule the surgery date, since we had to travel from London to Toronto. During the surgery, the team kept us updated by phone, letting us know how our furry baby was doing and when we could pick him up. Dr. DeRose clearly explained what he found during the consultation, the possible outcomes of the surgery, and his recommendations for our pup's long-term health. His follow-up calls were clear and reassuring, helping us understand exactly what kind of care would be needed during our dog's recovery. We’re truly grateful for the excellent care shown to both our dog and us. For those planning to visit: parking costs around $21 CAD for the full day (valid until 6 p.m.), and the entrance to the VEC is on McMurrich Street, not Yonge Street. However, no matter which side you arrive from, there are clear signs to help you find your way easily.
