I made an appointment to donate some very nice clothing to the Lawrenceville, NJ location. When I arrived, the elevator in the building was broken. That was no one’s fault and even though I had quite few items, I had no problem with doing what I needed to do and taking the stairs. I brought the lighter items in first (small bags of sweaters). When I arrived, I told the receptionist that I had an appointment at that time. She was very dismissive and pretty much ignored me. The other lady that was working there asked me if the other items I had were on hangers (as was required, unless it is sweaters), in a tone that seemed to insinuate that she expected me to say no. I assured her they were. It also seemed by their behavior toward me in the beginning, that they assumed I was there to receive clothing, not to donate. When I came back in with the heavier, larger amount of clothing, the same woman told me to put them on the racks that were provided. Because they were so heavy, I had to put them down first. When I did that, she said, sarcastically, “Or just put them there.” I explained that I had to put them down before I could hang them and she suddenly became polite. I will say that there was woman of color working there who had spoken with me earlier. She was very kind. I also must add that I am a black woman. I hope this is not a reflection on Dress for Success in other areas, but I will not be donating to this location ever again.

I am so super grateful for Dress For Success! Starting a new career and before coming to them I wasn't feeling very confident. They were so helpful, nice, determined and taught me so much about dressing as a professional. I was also taught different tips and tricks to outfits which I will definitely be using to my advantage for the rest of my life! Thank you so so much, I couldn't have done it without you!

I am sure this is a great organization but they don’t make it easy for people who want to donate suites and dresses. Most people who donate work 9 to 5 in the city or NJ and you make it impossible to donate. You should have a late night donation day or open one Saturday of the month.

I had an amazing experience here. I went in looking for an outfit with no idea how I should look. I left with every little thing I needed for my professional event. Great organization to donate to and go to for your professional needs. The staff and volunteers have great style and sense of professionalism.
