Customer experiences
I had more negative feelings after lunch here than positive ones. 1) the food was quite tasty and the wait was short 2) the outdoor area and inside the restaurant were quite clean 3) the tables outside to the right of the entrance were without umbrellas, it started to rain a little and we had nothing to cover ourselves with. 4) the shrimp were not served completely peeled, it was inconvenient to do this because of the sauce. 5) the water served to us tasted disgusting, apparently it was from the tap. 6) all the drinks were served at once, without confirming this. my beer became warm while I was waiting for the shrimp. 7) my dish was tasty 8) the steak was dry and lacked salt.9) 4 different menu pretty hard to find something. They should make book designed menu .
We specifically ventured out to the Gaithersburg area to see what Ela Mesa can do for our Greek-food-cravings. It was our first time here, and if not for a nice little write-up that we saw online, we wouldn't have gone here. But it was a good thing that we did. Ela Mesa didn't disappoint. The location was perfect -- outdoor patio facing a nice plaza that, we bet, would be a busy hub of family activities during the sunny days. Even though it was windy and quite chilly, we chose to dine on the patio. It was way past lunchtime, but a couple or so hours before early dinner, so the flow was light. Even then, the outdoor seating was at full capacity. The food platters we ordered were filling and very good. The meats and salads tasted fresh and were spiced/dressed well. The Calamari, except for the too crumbly fried batter, proved to be tasty, and it was cooked just the way we preferred it (lots of tentacles included). The Baklava was excellent. Food aside, we have to give a special shout-out to "Peter," the very pleasant server who was always smiling, and who seemed to genuinely appreciate his job (he asked us to write this Google review for Ela Mesa 😃). He was attentive and very helpful (he suggested swapping the Greek salad in my platter for the one I truly craved, instead of me ordering an additional full plate of the beets); his honesty, diligence, prudence, and amiability, actually made our dining experience very enjoyable. ...Yes, we'd drive the extra few miles to dine here at Ela Mesa again.//
Wonderful service, atmosphere, and food. Our servers Bob and Kathya were kind, patient, & knowledgeable. They took the time to share this amazing culture with us and offer descriptions, and suggestions. Food was FRESH!!! Manager Peter was kind and took time to chat with us. We will be back
Our dinner visit produced mixed fillings. While the atmosphere was good and the service was ok, the food did not justify the pricing. One of our dishes was returned since it was too dry, and the gyro was a bit on the salty side.. The plastic bag promised for our leftover containers never arrived.
