Customer experiences
I’ve been going to this gym for a while now and have had great experiences with the personal trainers, Moti and Brian :) They are both very knowledgeable and motivating. Moti is incredibly kind and has given me excellent guidance on proper lifting techniques, taking the time to break down movements clearly. Brian is also a lovely trainer, who really pushes you in a supportive way and is highly skilled in MMA training
Shockingly Poor Treatment of Instructors — GoodLife Rideau Centre Needs to Do Better GoodLife Rideau has completely betrayed loyal members and instructors. We found out instructors must pay $20 parking every time they teach a 50-min class or spend a long time to find a parking spot in the area. They lose time and money just to provide us with quality classes. Management claims their hands are tied, and corporate ignores emails, social messages, and even formal letters. They offered a “solution” of $200/month parking— a tone deaf and insulting proposal that essentially tells instructors: pay up if you want to keep teaching. As if instructors are the ones who should shoulder costs to keep classes running. And the worst part: the instructors weren’t even told about it, GL only communicated with me to create the impression that they care. This is not just careless; it is disrespectful and offensive. Now some instructors are quitting because of this and who can blame them? This is Canada’s biggest national gym chain—yet they can’t arrange free parking for their own most loyal, experienced and popular instructors. This lack of responsibility is embarrassing. Members deserve better. Instructors deserve better. As a long-time member, I feel let down and disrespected. GL Finess, this is not how you treat your community.
I believe the lady’s name was Sadaf, and she was part of the management team. She took the time to walk me through the facility, showing me the rooms, equipment, classes, locker room, and more. Her professionalism and positive attitude completely changed my perception of GoodLife Fitness, especially considering my negative experience back in 2008—so much so that, even with a corporate discount, I had sworn off the brand. I truly appreciate establishments that appoint the right employees with the right “can-do” attitude and provide customer service that meets and exceeds expectations.
I am a fan of this gym and appreciate the professionalism of their staff, the urban vibe, and its convenient location. Sadly, I have to report security issues related to thefts in the men's locker room area. We've been alerted through the media about a series of incidents happening throughout our city, Ottawa. I've noticed alert notices in other gyms of the chain. Still, despite this issue being prone to recurrence, there are no alerts or mechanisms in place to prevent it. Some recommendations for communication include hiding valuables, limiting the number of valuables brought with them when possible, keeping them out of sight, and regularly monitoring the area. I've spoken to the manager, and he is taking steps to create a more secure environment. I am confident it will be achieved. Meanwhile, it's best to take precautions during your visit.
