I was anticipating a really good experience at Goodwins, but it came up a bit short. The atmosphere is wonderful. The colors, tones, artwork, and lighting all combine to give you a warm feeling. It creates the impression you are going to have an elevated and enjoyable experience. But there’s a but… We did enjoy ourselves, but the food was hit and miss. The chicken cutlets, although cooked well with a slight crunch from the breading, lacked flavor. The mac and cheese suffered from the same lack of flavor and was too dense. Two bites of it and you feel full. To remedy the situation, it took me several minutes to flag down our waiter to request some salt. It took several more minutes for him to return with the white crystal flavor enhancer. None of this was particularly egregious. But when you’re seated in such a well-appointed dining room, the disappointment you feel when the food and service aren’t on par gets magnified.

We came for the mini hot dogs, Mac and cheese, and all the specialty potatoes. The vibes were immaculate and the menu is great. We can’t wait to come back and try the main courses. Highly recommend. Also the Goose bar was top notch.

Such a fantastic addition to the neighborhood! I’ve already been several times since they opened and have loved everything I’ve tried—the zucchini chips, tuna cups, burger, pasta…the list goes on. Even the kids’ burger is perfectly seasoned and just the right size for a great lunch. The cocktails are not only well-crafted but also come with clever, playful names that give a nod to the neighborhood. Can’t wait to keep coming back!

The fam surprised me with dinner plans here. We live up north so dinner on Lower Greenville is always a treat. Hilary (sp?) was our server and she was great! Also ran into Alex (server/manager) that I’ve met from other great restaurants locally (last one was Brass Ram). Everything was great! From the Cheese Beignet, to the Old Fashioned, Pork Chops, Kale Salad, Fried Zucchini, and the ginormous chicken tendies! Great spot - def would do again.
