This was an excellent tour. There were two portions, Plantation House and Swamp Tour. The highlight of our tour was the swamp tour. We had a great time. The ship captain was very knowledgeable and we got to hold an alligator. BillieJo (tour guide) and Darius (Bus Driver) were very courteous and professional. I would recommend this trip to any tourist.
The Grey Lines tour to the Oak Alley Plantation and the Cajun Experience swamp was an unforgettable experience. I believe Brandon was joking when counting the children he lost to the alligators on his last tour. The bus arrived promptly, and tour guide Robert Early was an exceptional host. His deep knowledge of the area's history, coupled with his engaging storytelling skills, made it difficult to believe he was from out of town. He kept the entire bus engaged with history, facts and stories for the entire ride (around 90 minutes there and back… with no notes!) At Oak Alley, we were able to explore the area at our own pace. We had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, take in the sobering history involving slavery, and get ready for the guided tour of the “Big House.” The guide for the house was less impressive, but inside of the house was still appreciated and the historical artifacts were fascinating. Although it rained on our solar eclipse, the ride on Bayou boat was incredible with Brandon as our host. Not once did I actually believe that they fed children to the alligators. Put together, the opulence and beauty of Oak Alley combined with the natural surroundings of the bayou with its ferocious alligators, wild hogs, and flying (jumping) fish made for a great day in New Orleans and an adventure to remember!
The driver did a great job maneuvering around the city. I forget our tour guides name, maybe Sal? Anyways he was so funny gave a ton of info. The tour was too long 2 1/2 hours start to finish but thats no reason to lower the rating I knew what I signed up for lol the bus is nice and air conditioned and you get to make a few stops and get off so it's cool.
