Great China is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in Berkeley. I’ve been coming here for 20 years when it was a tiny restaurant a couple blocks from the current location. The food is tremendous and is always fresh and perfectly prepared. I think the lunch specials are a great deal with big portions. The shrimp dishes are all excellent and so is the fish. And I love the sautéed green beans and the snow pea leaves. There’s a bar with a lot of wines but I’ve never tried anything here.
The last time I went to Great China was when they were in their old location. This new location is spacious and very minimalistic looking. For the food, it is GREAT! For the price it is slightly pricier, but you can taste and see the quality! Everything was on point and so good! I ordered 3 dishes, tea, and rice. The total is a lot, but like I stated before it is the quality you are paying for!

What sets Great China apart is their attention to detail. Every dish is beautifully presented, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. The service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive, and the staff was knowledgeable, offering great recommendations. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch, a family dinner, or a celebratory feast, Great China delivers an unforgettable dining experience. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone seeking top-notch Chinese food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Five stars!
