I had an awful experience at Hansen Family Hospital. I went to the ER with high fevers, blurred vision, and other symptoms. I made it very clear multiple times to both nurses and the doctor that my vision was messed up. Despite this, none of them documented it in my chart. Later, when I followed up with a nurse, she admitted they had just “hoped” my vision issues were from dehydration, and told me to reach out to my primary. So I called Ackley Medical Center. Their registration staff and nurse were shocked because when they pulled up my chart, there was absolutely no mention of blurred vision at all, even though I had told ER staff at least three times. The nurse at Ackley consulted an on-call doctor, and they immediately told me I needed to be reevaluated and get a head CT. They specifically told me not to go back to Hansen, but to go to Ames instead, and to not “mess around” with Hansen. That says everything you need to know. It’s incredibly frustrating and concerning that our local hospital cannot properly listen to or document what their patients are telling them. If they can overlook something as serious as vision changes, how can you trust that they aren’t overlooking other critical details? Mistakes like this can have dangerous consequences. Do not trust this hospital with your care. If you have health concerns, go to Ames or Mason City. Hansen is not worth the risk. Frankly, I don’t know how they haven’t already faced multiple lawsuits.

I give 5 stars to Nic in the lab. Hubby totally hates getting poked and usually jumps and moves, he did not move at all. He said he barely felt it. Also Nic was very nice and joked along with my hubby. Nic needs a raise!!!!!!

I tested positive for the doctor for micoplasma pneumonia. The doctor treated me with antibiotics right so all should be good? Had to go back in a week after i started the antibiotics because my symptoms were only getting worse after treatment(it was a 5 day z pack). At the next appointment i had today i leared that the previous doctor treated me for FREAKING BRONCHITIS and not pneumonia?! So now i still actively have pneumonia and have for OVER a month now. This is the exact same doctor that whenever I come in for female treatments/checkups the ONLY thing she ever does is try to make me get on birth control. I am EXTREMELY unhappy with how I wasn't properly treated and now have to go through more treatment that's actually CORRECT this time. My pneumonia wasn't that bad when I went in just a cough and slight breathlessness. Now it's progressed to the point it's painful to cough or breathe in too hard. I've been coughing so hard my entire back is sore as well. If she would have treated me correctly the first time it wouldn't have gotten this bad. Extremely unhappy with my care here at this point.

I suspected my son was dehydrated cause he wasn't able to keep anything down, and hadn't had a wet diaper in nearly 12 hrs. We went in and they gave us zophran for the vomiting and sent us home. Only 14 hrs later we ended up in the Ames ER cause he was crying uncontrollably about his tummy hurting. We're now on night 2 hospital stay due to dehydration and low blood sugar. My sons only 2.
