My dogs have been coming to Happy Hound for 16 years. When we first started bringing our dog, it was a 4.5 lb Min Pin, he stayed in the front with little dogs (and made a ton of doggy friends) and it gave me a break as a new mom. He was treated so well by the staff. Later our Pug x attended for 12 years. They met his needs, understood his personality and he was one of the smallest dogs playing hard core on the big dog teenager side. Cash was a drama queen and Fraser was the only person who could do his nails. Our Shar pei x has anxiety and the team treated her with kindness, realizing she wasn’t like Cash and needed a calmer stay. Darlene was the only one aside from myself who she was happy to be groomed by. Darlene is always gentle and kind to the dogs and has pointed out a possible health issue with Panda so I could take her to the vet (she’s a Shar pei mix so she gets a lot of skin issues). After Cashy passed away, our new dog, Lumi, a Frenchie x, started attending Happy Hound. She is also a rescue dog with some separation issues. Having Happy Hound has made it possible for us to help her adjust to a new life, have friends and we know she is cared for. If anything has happened ( a scratch on her head, a bleeding toe) the staff told us right away. Her bleeding toe turned out to be a tumour that she had to have removed and the staff at Happy Hound were watchful and supportive of her health issues on her return to daycare after her surgery healed. Lumi is also completely deaf and the staff are learning her signs to communicate with her. In my experience over the past 16 years and with three very different dogs, the staff love all the dogs they have in their care and Fraser and Darlene train their staff to be kind, watchful and loving dog sitters.
I have been fortunate enough to have the Happy Hound to take care of my 3 dogs twice now. I came from Saskatchewan to visit. On the 2 nd visit my boys were eager to stay and meet the staff. A very good indication that they enjoyed their stay. Watching them with the other dogs there; I could see they were comfortable. To me this is the best recommendation I could give.
My two dogs love the daycare and the grooming services. We have been coming here for years and have always had a great experience. The owners and staff are always friendly and knowledgeable.
