I recently had my first appointment with Nurse Practitioner Melanie Black, who became my new Primary Care Provider after my previous PCP left. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't as positive as I had hoped. Upon our introduction, I found the approach to be quite direct, with a focus on time constraints right from the start. While I understand the need to be efficient, the opening, "Alright, we have a lot going on here, let's just focus on one since that's all we have time for today," felt a bit unwelcoming. During the appointment, I felt that the conversation veered away from my primary concerns, and I didn't leave with solutions or a clear path forward for the issues I had intended to address. As she wanted to allocate the time to checking her boxes by going over my medical history. Controlling the whole conversation. There were also instances where I felt a disconnect in communication. When sharing information from my previous provider or describing my symptoms, I felt some of my responses were met with a lack of understanding, and I even encountered a dismissive tone. This made it difficult for me to feel heard and understood regarding my health history and current needs. The visit concluded abruptly with the statement, "Oh, that would be another billing appointment, see if I have an opening later today, we are all out of time." This left me feeling that my concerns weren't fully addressed and that there wasn't adequate time allocated to discuss my health comprehensively. I believe clear and empathetic communication is crucial in patient care, and I hope this feedback can be helpful for future patient interactions.

Check in is efficient. Short wait time from check in to seeing provider. My provider is Joshua Brooks. He is listened to my concerns and is compassionate. He does not make you feel like he’s one foot out the door. I highly recommend him as a provider and High Lakes as a comprehensive medical clinic.

Dr. Morgan is wonderful. We just sync well together and I am better having her as a valued member of my healthcare team. Even when we only have a short appointment I always leave feeling any questions were answered. I trust her.
