Love how doctors assume a tooth infection automatically means you're a drug addict. I went to the hospital today for antibiotics, and the doctor asked if I do meth just because of a tooth infection. I explained that my dentist (Dr. Balen) was supposed to replace a filling that fell out. He rescheduled twice, then canceled, and eventually retired without telling me so I couldn’t even make plans. I’ve been trying to find a new dentist for over a year. Maple Street never takes new adults, and Dr. Paul in Taylorville won’t even call me back, let alone answer the phones. Meanwhile, the tooth crumbled into pieces and now it’s basically a hole in my gums. I’ve lost around 40 pounds because eating is so difficult. Still, she asked if I use meth. Then told me to ā€œjust contact your dentist.ā€ šŸ˜… Thanks to Dr. Krow Rodne for taking an already embarrassing and dreadful moment and making it worse. My teeth have always been my enemy, the thing that has caused worse pain than child birth, been the reason for my bullying most of my childhood, I have gone to E.Rs so many times and treated like a liar even when it felt like my face was going to melt off from the pain, and once again a doctor treated me like I’m an addict. I don’t even take Tylenol most days out of fear of addiction it runs in my family. Even when I was up there for back pain and they tried to give me narcotics, I said no. I avoid it all. Meth isn’t the only reason for tooth decay. Here's a list of 20 other causes: 1. Sugar 2. Acidic foods 3. Soda 4. Poor brushing habits 5. Skipping flossing 6. Dry mouth 7. Acid reflux 8. Genetics 9. Eating disorders 10. Certain medications 11. Teeth grinding 12. Gum recession 13. Misaligned teeth 14. Snacking frequently 15. Sticky foods 16. Lack of fluoride 17. Not drinking enough water 18. Skipping dental visits 19. Aging 20. Mouth breathing You didn’t ask me about any of those. Just straight up: ā€œDo you do meth?ā€ Even though I told you the reason for the infection at the start. I wasn’t even there for pain meds. I said all I wanted was antibiotics. Ibuprofen was good enough for me before that comment. You realize tooth infections can kill right? I get it, drug addicts often use the excuse of a tooth infection for more drugs. However, I ASKED FOR ANTIBIOTICS NOT NARCOTICS. Do better.

I have serious concerns about staff behavior at this facility, particularly regarding safety and professionalism. I observed conduct that I believe is inappropriate and unsafe for vulnerable individuals. I strongly recommend families do thorough research before placing a loved one here, especially in the new "swing bed/rehab" program.

I understand being busy but when you tell a patient you are waiting on a room to open up then don't go and put someone in a room that came in after you. Waited 2 hours for nothing. Then was told I had to sign papers before I could leave and after waiting 5 minutes they still didn't have the papers for me to sign. This is the second time we have been treated like crap and haven't been treated due to lack of caring. I will never go back. They are just as bad as Litchfield hospital anymore
