Our initial impression of the hotel was that it was a classy, "proper" 5 star establishment. The foyer and lobby lounge were spacious with a nice feel, even a pianist in the lounge in the afternoon. We were booked into a Grand Club Room with Burj views, which was spacious and comfortable with amazing views from the balcony. The Club Lounge is big and airy, offering a late light breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with a 2.5 hour "happy hour" which we thought very generous. The food on offer was plentiful and of very good quality. Breakfast was taken in the Brasserie restaurant, where there was a good buffet, with eggs cooked to order. So far all good, with our only negative thoughts were that there was no evening turn down/roo refresh service and on one day our room was not cleaned until nearly 4pm, and that after 2 phone calls to prompt service.||Things changed a little for us on the last couple of days of our stay. We had planned a nice relaxed final dinner sitting on the terrace of the Brasserie restuarant, only to find that the whole outside area and the pool had been given over to a corporate event. There had been no communication that this was going to happen. There was a hongover from this next morning when it seemed there was a second team on duty for breakfast service. Frankly, a chef who over cooks fired eggs has no right to be called a chef.||Later that morning there was an incident where an object was thrown from one of the upper levels into the pool area where a number of people were congregated. Amazingly, nobody was hurt, and I understand that the hotel found and took action against the perpetrators, but the thing we thought was bad was that whilst a number of managers appeared in the area, we did not see one manager, speak to one guest, to reassure them and make sure they were OK. ||As a result of things over our final 24 hours in the hotel we found ourselves with mixed feelings about it.

Room type: standard Stay: August 2024 Pros: - Very convenient location nearby Dubai Mall, to which the hotel is directly connected. - Good service overall, with attentive, kind staff willing to help at all times. - We received a nice upgrade based on my GHA membership. In any case, standard rooms were also very comfortable, spacious and clean. - Breakfast was OK, maybe the variety was not as much as we’ve seen in hotels, but it was good. Cons: - We arrived late (around 10pm or so) and the only available restaurant was sort of a lounge with snacks in which smoking was allowed. Therefore, we asked for in-room dining instead. I attended a conference at the ballroom, and it was a wonderful experience. The environment was very pleasant, spacious, and peaceful, which made it easy to focus and feel comfortable. The staff were extremely polite and professional, providing excellent service. The food quality was also good and well-prepared. Overall, if you're looking for a great venue for an event or conference, this place is definitely a great choice.
