Customer experiences
booked 2 rooms. was traveling with my daughter, her husband and their 3 kids (ages 9,6,3). there was a wedding reception going on (which we weren’t told about). about 8 pm the music started up with the bass reverbrating in our rooms and it was just like it was in the room with us. the reception was across the pool and 2 conference rooms down. about 930 we called the desk and asked when they expected the music to stop or if the bass could be turned down. we were told it would be midnight before it would get quiet. so at 10 pm at night (with the 3 year old not feeling good and having to be woken up) they moved us to a non suite way down the hall. we then later discovered that there were ants in my daughters room (i showed picture and video of the ants to the manager). since i booked through expedia he said he couldn’t t refund the hotel room that had the ants. i called expedia and started a return of my fee. when i checked on it later i found out the manager had lied to the expedia rep and said there was no sign of ants. i will never stay there again. there are better priced cleaner and better run hotels in town
Great location. Rooms were clean. Workers were friendly and helpful. Attached restaurant smelled wonderful although I did not have the opportunity to dine there. Beds left a little to be desired, but plenty of pillows to fill the dimples and cover some of the pokey springs.... Overall it's a really nice hotel for a good price! I would stay there again if I find myself in the area again.
SAFETY CONCERN!!! Extremely disappointed in this hotel. The room had a strong fruity overlay of smell clearly masking something unpleasant, and the floor felt moist and tacky. The single-pane window had a large crack poorly taped over, and to make matters worse, it was unlocked when I checked in late at night after further inspection, I realized the latch was broken so it didn’t lock and stayed cracked open with the screen unattached. Being on the ground level, this was an obvious safety hazard and made it easy for someone to climb in. I initially used the ironing board to reinforce the lock for peace of mind. When I finally expressed my concerns and asked to be moved to a room on the second floor, the staff was unapologetic and refused my request. Their lack of concern for guest safety was unacceptable. I felt unsafe and uncomfortable my entire stay, and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
If I could give them 0 stars, I would or maybe -20. I had to cancel for an emergency, and they are not gracious enough to understand. That's no place I want to do business with. I made a reservation there with a free cancellation because I have an apartment in another city where my neighbor smokes and makes me sick. I wanted a break from this since I'm a Cancer survivor who does not want cancer again. I also was doing research to see if I wanted to move to Marshalltown and attended the Catholic church there. (I have been warned that it's a rip off town). However my car quit on me. I need a new starter and can't help the problem. Instead of working with me graciously about this, the Front Desk agent tried to run my card anyway, even though I asked for some mercy in light of my emergency. Any HONEST and decent hotel would have changed the dates or cancelled with no fees. But apparently this is NOT a decent or Reputable (honest business). I know not to book here ever again. Any dishonest and ungracious business that can't understand when you have an emergency is NO PLACE I WANT TO STAY. Oh and they refused to cancel me. I will never stay at this hateful hotel and never do business in Marshalltown again, plus I dropped Booking.com FOR GOOD. NASTY PEOPLE,
Hotel Greenfield is a hotel.
