Not only did she sell my flat at a record-breaking price, but she was also consistently responsive, hardworking, friendly, funny, and always one step ahead. She was able to calm us down even at stressful moments. Unprofessional, unscrupulous, misleading. Would not recommend for buying or selling. We bought a few million pound flat in a 6 floor building. On first viewing Maria Oliveros spoke at length about how Sotheby's could get sales fee instead of Knight Frank but did not know or care about basic information on the property. Sotheby's misled us and quoted 40% of actual management fee. Only after we made offer, did Sotheby's admit management fee was 2.5 times higher than original. Didn't know whether utilities communal. Wouldn't show us boiler (we went to look for ourselves). Didn't know/ didn't care about storage. Wouldn't arrange to have broken door in flat opened to see what was behind. Seller agreed to include curtains in sale which were not there upon completion. Sotheby's management advised us to seek legal means against seller to resolve. Rushed us to exchange with promise to complete quickly but once exchanged, Sotheby's delayed completion by over a month. Sotheby's lied about Australian owners leaving flat empty because they didn't come to London much. We found out they had rented flat in numerous short term lets. We have used Savills, Strutt and Parker and Hamptons as buyer and seller. They are professional and manage the relationship between buyer and seller effectively. Sotheby's falls well below acceptable standard. Stay away from Sotheby's. They are awful.
