Her Flavour Fix

We recently visited Bar Isabel and once again had an excellent experience. This is one of those restaurants that truly shines when you go with a small group. Since it’s tapas-style, we recommend coming with at least four people so you can properly explore the menu and try a wide range of dishes. It’s the kind of place that rewards ordering generously and sharing everything. The standout of the night was the Pork Secreto with chorizo spice. It was incredibly flavourful, perfectly cooked, and easily the best dish we had. The depth of seasoning and tenderness of the meat made it unforgettable. We also ordered the Pan con Tomate with Jamón Ibérico, which was simple but well executed. Sometimes the classics are classics for a reason. The patatas bravas were crispy and enjoyable, though not the most memorable dish on the table compared to some of the stronger plates. Dessert is NON-negotiable here. The Basque cake with hot sherry cream is the reason we come back. It never disappoints!! Rich, comforting, and best enjoyed immediately. Knowing that $1 from each Basque cake sold goes to charity makes it even better. We stuck to classic cocktails for drinks. The dirty martini was spot on. The espresso martini initially came out too sweet, but the team quickly remade it and the second version was perfectly balanced, which really speaks to their attention to detail. Service was impeccable from beginning to end. Attentive, polished, and seamless without ever feeling overbearing. Overall, Bar Isabel remains a top choice for tapas in the city. It’s perfect for date nights or small groups, and especially ideal if you want to settle in for a few rounds of shared plates and cocktails. We’ll absolutely be back!

Had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary here! Went for the lunch prix fixe for 2 people, available Saturday 12-4pm. There was plenty of food, and it was maybe the best tapas I've had outside of Spain? The pan con tomate had a bit more tomato than I'd expect, but I'm not complaining. Standouts were the Patatas Bravas and the Pork Secreto - the sticky sweet dip complemented the salty juicy pork so well! It's beautiful and vibrant inside. While it would've been nice to sit in the colourful lighting rather than the natural light closer to the window, I really appreciated being able to sit somewhere a little quieter to enjoy our meal. 10/10 - would definitely come back again!

The space is intimate and cozy, and perfect for lingering over shared plates and drinks. The staff are genuinely friendly and caring, and they’re great at guiding you through the menu, especially when it comes to cocktail recommendations. The tapas are really good, though dishes did come out a bit on the slower side. But honestly, it fits the whole experience here: order a few cocktails, enjoy the atmosphere, and let the night unfold at its own pace (within the seating time limit of course). One of those spots that makes you want to order just one more plate. We got: • Half Octopus • Mussels Escabeche • Jamón Croqueta • Shishito Peppers • Sea Bream Ceviche & Chips • Grilled Beef Tongue & Mojo Rojo • Sobrasada & Foie Gras
