I had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago, and am now on 8 medications, not having been on any prescription medications previously. On the advice of the nurse assigned to me at the local Heart Function Clinic, I made a list of of all the vitamins and supplements I consume regularly, and took it to the Jean Coutu pharmacy at 438 Coverdale Road in Riverview, NB, on August 5/2025, where my new prescriptions are on file. I also wanted to advise the pharmacy of the latest side effects I have been experiencing from the medications. 3 women in the pharmacy spoke to me, and left me feeling like I was being a nuisance. They said their system was not able to allow them to input the vitamins and supplements I take into my file, to flag any potential interactions with the prescription medications. I would have thought their system would be more sophisticated than that, for the safety of the patients. Further to that, they were also not interested in hearing of my latest side effects from the prescription medications they dispensed to me, even though internet searches advised me to be sure to let the pharmacist know of the side effects. I am not a crank or chronic complainer. I was just following the advice from the nurse at the Heart Function Clinic by sharing the information with the pharmacy that dispenses my medications to me. I would have appreciated a little more understanding and consideration from the Jean Coutu pharmacy service. Update: Pharmacist David Ford from Jean Coutu In Riverview called me on August 14 to ask how I am doing with the medications, which was a very thoughtful thing to do.  I had called Jean Coutu pharmacy in Riverview on July 24, and spoke with David regarding the earlier side effects I was experiencing from the medications, and he was very considerate and helpful.  As per our August 14 phone conversation, I went in to speak with him personally on August 15 regarding current side effects and the list of vitamins & supplements I am taking regularly, to determine whether there may be any negative interactions with the prescription medications. David was very thorough and helpful in all regards, retaining the printed list of vitamins and supplements to review in detail for follow-up. That is top-notch service! Thank you, David!
