The staff is fine, but this clinic charges higher prices compared to others. That would be okay, since it is close to my home and convenient. The real problem is that even though I pay more, I can never get an appointment when I actually need one. A few months ago, my dog had giardia and I only needed a simple stool test and medication, but I was told the next available appointment was in three weeks. Today, my dog injured his cornea and couldn't open his eye. As soon as I arrived there, the receptionist said they couldn’t see him without an appointment. They didn’t even try to speak with a vet to see if my dog could be fit in at any time during the day — even though it would have taken literally five minutes to prescribe a eye drop. This was very frustrating: it wasn’t serious enough for the emergency hospital, but I also couldn’t wait a week because the eye could have become infected. I ended up spending hours at the emergency animal hospital, missing work, and the whole exam took less than 10 minutes. The ER vet prescribed an antibiotic eye drop — something that could have easily been handled at this clinic where I’m already a client. At this clinic, you simply cannot count on your vet to handle quick and simple problems. You will either have to wait weeks for an appointment, or lose your day at work and spend $300 at an emergency hospital just to get a basic eye drop or a medicine for giardia.
It took me nearly 6 months to write this. In January I brought my beloved bunny in on a Saturday. Was sent home with medication, tge vet was nice. However I had to bring her in on Sunday morning as she was clearly not getting better. An x-ray was done and to my utter shock she had a tumour on her bladder. There was no way I could afford 6,000 for a surgery. I decided to say goodbye. My heart was shattered. The vet couldn’t get the IV in to inject the initial med to relax her so he took her to the back, told me I couldn’t come back there and never offered to bring her back after she died. He do offer a call back but I was in shock. I left so broken hearted and to this day I wish I had scooped up my bunny and took her to her own vet the next day. I have to tell my story because I found compassion lacking. It’s hard for me to believe he didn’t offer for me to hold her after. I’m not saying it’s an awful place but this experience marked me deeply, negatively. Please always offer the pet parent a chance to hold their precious pet even in death. It’s for closure. My heart still aches. FYI it was the emergency vet on Carling Ave near Carlingwood mall.
Great staff! Technician appointments are always great and on time. Every single time I've had to see an actual vet, I've had to wait a minimum of 30 mins later than my appointment time regardless of what time I make the appointment. Update: My last appointment with a vet on time.
Took advantage of the free initial consultation to get our kitten his initial shots. The staff were absolutely delightful and Reggie didn't seem to even notice the needle. The veterinarian even gave me a quick refresher on trimming his nails. Highly recommended.
