My daughter was seen in the clinic by Dr. Mendez. She felt like she was doctored very well and was a pleasant experience. Everyone in the clinic was exceptionally nice and professional. Lucky to have such a top notch Family Medicine Clinic in Lubbock. Highly recommend!

Dr Summers and her nurse were absolutely wonderful today. So caring and listened to all of my needs and concerns. They actually got to the bottom of my issue when 3 other doctors couldn't/wouldn't take the time to thoroughly check me! I will absolutely be back to see them when needed!

I’ve known Dr. Purdy for a long time—he’s a family friend and a genuinely great doctor. But because of how poorly this clinic operates, I’m officially done. They’ve lost me, my fiancé, and my brother, who just got insurance. I’m honestly shocked this place is still in business, especially after reading other reviews where many people have had the same terrible experiences. Here’s the deal: every time you call, the phone is answered by the rudest and most unhelpful staff I’ve ever encountered. They answer with “Lubbock Family Medicine, hold” and put you back on the never-ending hold line. When you finally get through, they act like you’re inconveniencing them just by existing. Good luck trying to schedule an appointment or talk to anyone who cares. If you leave a message for a nurse, you’ll likely never hear back. Calling again doesn’t help—you just get stuck in the same cycle, no matter how polite or firm you try to be. For the record, there was one bright spot: Jessica, the sweet lady who used to sit at the checkout station. She’s the only person there who was ever kind or helpful. The nurses during appointments are just as bad. They’re rushed, unfriendly, and make you feel like a bother. Despite all this, I kept giving this place chances because Dr. Purdy is such a great doctor. But my most recent experience was the final straw. Without getting too personal, I have a condition that causes horrible, irregular periods. I’ve found a medication that helps regulate my cycle, but my insurance wouldn’t cover it, so I paid cash. After a lot of back-and-forth, they approved a similar medication, but it made me incredibly sick. When my condition improved with the original prescription, I thought I’d found a solution. Recently, my symptoms came back, so I saw Dr. Purdy and he prescribed it again. This time, the price had doubled, and I couldn’t afford it. My pharmacy suggested a compound version that was much cheaper and told me to call the clinic to update the prescription. Here’s where it gets worse. After a week of calling and dealing with the same rude staff, no call-backs, and zero progress, I found out that Dr. Franklin—the current practice owner—has set up a program called “Skinny Jeans” to profit off this medication. They make an in-house compound version (which I’ve been told is heavily diluted) and require patients to join the program, pay a membership fee (that is way more than the compound at the pharamcacy which is NOT diluted), and meet with their nutritionist monthly ($75 a visit, another way to shuffle money in their pockets, of course). This is ridiculous, especially for patients like me who don’t need the medication for weight loss. When I explained my situation, I was told by a nurse I’ve never even met that I’d have to come in for a different medication because they “are NOT allowed” to call in the compound unless I join the program. This is unethical and feels like a money grab. My sister in law, who also goes there, was told the exact same thing by Dr. Purdy a few months back, where he explicitly told her he would be in trouble if Doctor Franklin found out he called it in). The office staff alone was enough to make me switch doctors, but this “Skinny Jeans” nonsense pushed me over the edge. If you’re considering this clinic, be warned. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
